MotionAid Reflection Journal ✏️🪩

For our second submission of module three (changing populations) we were required to submit an article on our reflections of the module. This was 2500 and was to be designed accordingly.

The three parts of this journal is
1. EMPATHY ON DESIGN

MotionAid Animation Projections 📽️🎞️

To make my projections for module three a reality, I had to create some animations to show on the projector. I had to quickly learn animation in 2 days, as I had never done this before.

Each aspect of these animations have been animated separately, from plants to each animal. Each animation had over 140 frames to complete them.

I’m proud of myself of this. I used flipaclip to make the animations and I used ibis paint for each assets such as backgrounds and images.

I would love to dive more into animation in the future.🩷

MotionAid Presentation Boards🩹⛑️

This was the first submission of module three changing populations. We were required to submit 4 A3 size boards of our research process and development work.

The concept of Motion aid is as follows:

“MOTIONAID IS AN IDEA BASED ON PROJECTIONS TO HELP DEVELOP AND REGAIN MOVEMENT OF STROKE VICTIMS, THIS WAS ALSO MADE TO IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH OF STAFF AND PATIENTS THROUGH ANIMATIONS AND COLOUR. MOTIONAID WAS CREATED TO BRING PERSONALITY AND FUN INTO THE WALLS OF THE ROYAL VICTORIA HOSPITAL, TO BRING A LIGHTER ATMOSPHERE AND BECOME MORE WELCOMING TO ALL IN NEED OF THE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY PROVIDED THERE.

THE ANIMATIONS PROVIDED WITHIN MOTIONAID ARE, AN OCEAN ATMOSPHERE WHERE PATIENTS CAN FOLLOW FISH AROUND THE SCREEN, A NATURE THEME WHERE PATIENTS CAN FOLLOW BIRDS AND POINT OUT OBJECTS WITHIN THE ANIMATION AND FINALLY A FOLLOW THE BUBBLE SCENE WHERE PATIENTS CAN TRACE THE MOVEMENTS OF THE BUBBLES THAT APPEAR. ALL ANIMATIONS INCLUDED WERE CREATED TO FOCUS ON BALANCE, ARM MOVEMENTS, TRACING, TRACKING AND SPEECH. AS EACH DIFFERENT SCREEN HAS MULTIPLE ASSETS WHICH CAN BE SPOKEN ABOUT AND WORKED ON THROUGH OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY.

EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS CREATED TO ENHANCE MOVEMENT AND THE WELLBEING OF THE PATIENTS, IT’S ALSO IMPORTANT TO HIGHLIGHT HOW THIS PROJECT WILL ENHANCE THE FACILITY ROOM THAT IS USED.
EVEN WHEN THIS ISN’T BEING USED FOR REHABILITATION PURPOSES, MOTIONAID CAN BE USED AS AN ANIMATION WALL WHICH IS GENERALLY NICE TO LOOK AT, THIS CAN HELP VISITORS AND PATIENTS FEEL WELCOME AND CALM WITHIN THE HOSPITAL. MOTIONAID ANIMATIONS WILL TAKE AWAY THE DULLNESS OF THIS ONCE WHITE ROOM”

I really enjoyed this project & hope to pick it up to develop in the future🩷

Elemental Breath Project🪨🫁

“ELEMENTALBREATH IS A HANDHELD PEBBLE SHAPED DEVICE THAT CONTROLS A USER’S BREATHING.
THIS SMALL BUT MIGHTY PEBBLE CONTAINS MULTIPLE DIFFERENT BREATHING TECHNIQUES TO FIT ANY USER’S NEEDS. THE LIGHT THAT SHINES WITHIN THIS PEBBLE HAS BEEN SPECIFICALLY CHOSEN TO CHANNEL A PERSON’S INNER CORE. YELLOW FOR WARMTH, GREEN FOR SAFETY, BLUE FOR PURPOSE, PURPLE FOR STRENGTH AND PINK FOR CALMNESS. ELEMENTALBREATH WILL HAVE MULTIPLE PEBBLES TO CHOOSE FROM TO SUIT EVERYONE. EACH PEBBLE IS CRAFTED FROM REAL ROCKS FOUND ON LOCAL BEACHES. BY USING NATURAL MATERIALS SUCH AS ROCKS AND RECYCLED FABRIC THIS CAN HELP USERS FEEL GROUNDED AND CLOSER TO THE EARTH. TO ACTIVE THE LIGHTING OF THE PEBBLE, SIMPLY TILT TO TURN THE DEVICE ON, AND SHAKE TO BEGIN THE BREATHING TECHNIQUES. THIS HAS BEEN MADE TO TAKE AWAY THE STRESS OF USING APPLICATIONS ON MOBILE DEVICES AND REDUCE SCREEN TIME USAGE. THIS PERFECTLY BLENDED DEVICE IS ALL YOU NEED TO CHANNEL YOUR MENTAL WELLBEING. ALL YOU NEED IS YOU, A SET OF LUNGS AND YOUR PEBBLE.”

For this project, we had to submit a one minute video, a pictorial paper, hero image, project summary and a presentation piece. I’m super excited how this project turned out and hoping I get good marks on it. Would also like to thank .does.art for being my actress for the 1 minute video🩷

Co-Design Article ✏️📚

For our second submission of module one (design thinking) we were required to submit an article on co-design. This was 1500 and was to be designed accordingly.

At the start of this project. We were given professionals to interview and speak to about co-design. I was given Chris Cameron. Who was a previous student at djcad and is now a senior user researcher for the ministry of justice.

Chris gave some great insight into the topic of co-design and really opened up about his experience. Thank you Chris ✨

DunSee concept & research 💻🔬

For the second part of DunSee, our team had to create two posters. A research poster and a concept poster. These were then presented to our class as part of our submission.

Within the research poster, our team collated all the work we have been working on for the past four weeks and presented like so.

Within the Concept poster, we spoke about our idea of Dunsee. Things mentioned are stakeholders, budgeting, project timeline & how we might fail. Everything needed to start on our idea.

I really enjoyed this project and very chuffed with how quickly this happened. 4 weeks isn’t alot of time to bond with new class mates & make a project. Congrats team three 🩷

DunSee App 🌆🤳

For my first module of Design Thinking for MSc Product Design. We were required to create something that would benefit Dundee’s tourism.

DunSee is a treasure hunting / geo caching app. Users will be provided with routes by either walking or public transport. Along with a clue for each tourist attraction in Dundee. The user will then use the app to guide them to each place. Once the user gets to said attraction they will have to find a billboard with a piece of art on it. Once they have found the art piece. They must scan the QR code on the board to take them to an artist recognition page on the app. This will also capture a badge for their profile. Once the user catches all 6 attractions on the app. A reward will be given to them by a local business. This could be a restaurant voucher to a hotel voucher.

Our team decided on this concept as we wanted to involve local artists and businesses around Dundee. This way they can both gain from the experience and bring more footfall to their business. We also wanted to provide a fitness option on the app and a transport route for people who are unable.

Stick2Me STICKER PACKS🦿✨

Stick2Me was my Bachelors Degree final project for the degree show, Here are the STICKER PACKS I CREATED✨

Stick2Me, a website platform for teenagers and young adults to access hand drawn sticker packs, which can be placed over their orthotics.

These can be easily layered and can be changed with ease without damaging the orthotics. If users are unsure on what stickers to choose, there is a quiz within the website which can determine your packs through five questions. There is a create your own pack which can be mixed and matched to your uniqueness and individuality.

Orthotics refer to custom made or over the counter devices designed to provide support and alignment to various parts of the body, primarily the feet, ankles, and legs.
Stick2Me was created to promote style trends and customisation, to embody inclusivity.

Serenity Sphere is an app to help cope and learn about sleep deprivation, anxiety and stress during exam time / submission time for projects at university. I created this app on Adobe XD.

Mock ups were created on photoshop and ibis paint.
I’m really chuffed with how this project turned out and how class it looks!! This project was also submitted to a competition.

Another Side Project that l’ve been working on for X on a new coffee tin design with the brief “the beauty of connecting over coffee”

My design is called “Coffee, Blankets, and Furry Friends” the first thing that came to mind was all cosy up in bed with my cats. As someone who is a sucker for comfort. I put my three favourite things together. Pets, Coffee & Blankets.

My design is called “A Beautiful Brew” the first thing that came to mind was Iced coffee and the luxury of Treating yourself to a coffee, Hot or Cold. My design represents the love and luxury brand of coffee.

edit/photoshop I was working on in December. It was a Christmas present for my family with my family cats!!

For this I used ibis paint and the images of the cats. I used a light brush to make it look fluffy and the cats that look like they blend in.

I’m obsessed with how this turned out!! If anyone is interested in this please let me know and I can start a little Etsy account and sell little prints!!

SUSTERIAL 2/2 Parts I can finally get round to sharing my website which I created for my dissertation project. Here is the video breakdown from the official website site which I created. for this I used Wix. So now. A bit about SUSTERIAL. What is it? I named my project SUSTERIAL Break it down. SUStainable maTERIALs The website SUSTERIAL is a platform for any sort of artist / designer who may seek products for their said projects or purpose. Instead of using big brands who care less about the environment. I came up with the idea that everything can be in one place. The whole idea was to offer people the alternative materials which are better for the environment. For example normal pencils? How about plastic pencils. The main purpose of the website was to offer the alternative sustainable option of popular materials which can lower people s carbon footprints & make the planet a better place. This also includes supporting local businesses and lowering carbon emissions from shipping products to you. The part one is some screenshots of the platforms main pages. It would be great to keep this project alive and possible take forward in the future with developers. I think it’s effective and there’s nothing else like it!! 💚
