I was excited to drop these beauties in my set last night on Trance Rush UK but frustratingly tech problems cut the Twitch streams. Still, my next "Trance Essentials" episode is currently under construction and these may well feature!

The common theme in my selections this week is a refresh of the original sounds. We've got the classics "The Eternal" and "Reflect" rebooted with the modern trance sound, a super remix of "Touchstone" from 2010, and then Craig Connelly with a lovely touch up of "Echoes" which I featured in my sets when it was released in 2022!

It's release day... and the results are in! These are the tunes that caught my attention this week. The TOP 4 plus One To Watch.

One To Watch - Kenny Mitchell with his latest tune "Synchronicity".

Kenny has been on the scene for a couple of years and his name continues to rise. I have featured his tune "Sheephaven Bay" in a recent "Top 4" and I have included it in a new guest set which I will be able to share with you soon.

"Shine A Light" from Bryan Kearney and Bo Bruce on vocals was a stand out tune last year and was awarded the third best tune of the year in the TOTY charts. The Modea remix is different.. but still conveys the beauty of the track with slower proggy sounds and melodies.

"We Are Free" from Jordan Suckley is a pulsating high energy tune with a very catchy melody. Few classic vibes in this one!

Ferry Tayle & Tonks (Mirage) with the vocals of Sarah Shields have released one of their most demanded IDs of the past year. A proper uplifting tune!

Inrayzex is another artist that I would consider to be still emerging though he has been in the scene for a few years now. The first time he has featured in my top 4 but deservedly so with this beauty "Feel The Burn".

Finally, I must give a mention to State72 for his remix of "First Impuls" from Jochen Gareth. Was a tight call between this and one of the others in the Top 4. A great tune with a lovely melody.

Who doesn't love "Find"? A massive trance anthem with haunting vocals that has stood the test of time, and now Lostly has brought it bang up to date with a super remix. Instantly into the Top 4!

South Of The Stars has brought the fire for their remix of "Tuesday 8PM" to combine uplifting enchanting melodies with banging acid beats. My kind of tune!

Binary Finary has invaded the Hard Trance Europe label with a slammin hard trancer "Invada". Also features a S.H.O.K.K. remix! Bringing back two massive names to the modern scene.

Alex M.O.R.P.H is on FSOE with a beautiful uplifting trance piece called "Cherry Blossom". A high quality tune with a heavenly breakdown to take your mind to higher places.

As my followers know I'm a big fan of John O'Callaghan and love his Subculture label. I regularly listen to his sets and "Autumn Avenue" caught my attention many months ago. It's the sound that I always enjoy and expect from him.

Dumonde! Wow! So good to see a new tune from these guys who were a huge name in the classic trance scene. They have worked with Talla 2XLC and brought back that distinct sound that we all loved them for.

Cold Blue is an ever present for me. Every tune he releases is amazing and he's always got so many up his sleeve. His sets are full of IDs and another artist that I regularly listen to and then look forward to getting my hands on his tunes!! "The Bright Side" is a positive uplifting happy trancer!

Another shock.. Ferry Corsten back again with another tune in the classic trance mould! I featured his tune "Chaos" in my latest trance essentials set and he quickly continues that quality with one to leads us to "Remember" his real trance sound - supersaw pads, anthemic melodies and percussions.

Finally.... take a good look at Jardin - "Shift", and Metta & Glyde - "The Language of Stars". Both brilliant tunes that were contender for my top 4 this week. Will almost certainly feature in my own sets.

NuSpirit with a super high energy destroyer on Nocturnal Knights! Karney gives the Dark Dub treatment to the mega anthem "I Love You" which he introduced a year ago at Lumi. Jordan Suckley makes it into my TOP 4 for the first time with the catchy and pulsating "Be Mine", and Matty Ralph is back with For The Love Of Acid. I love that acid sound!

Special mention for this. When I was checking through the new releases I was excited to see a new tune from the legend Signum It was a tight call not to include it in my Top 4 of the week.. but definitely deserves attention. Signum has brought his classic sound back for the modern trance scene. 🙌🙌

Always loved the Ferry Corsten remix of "Kosheen - Catch" so I was delighted to drop the new Davey Asprey remake on Trance Rush UK. A solid remake that will no doubt feature in my Trance Essentials sets. What do you guys think of this?

Delighted to have been given a copy of the Calvin O'Commor remix of "Gouryella - Anahera" for the B2B set with Krasi Tonev. Love the original, and this remix does it justice with a fresh new take! Was a brilliant intro tune for the set as you can tell by our reactions. Calvin O'Commor is well known within the TRUK family as his tunes has been played by several of our DJs. Big thanks to Calvin for kindly providing this for me.

So yesterday Armin van Buuren counted down the Top 50 Tunes Of The Year as voted for. No surprise to see "Destination" win. It's a solid, high energy trancer, and one that I looked forward to buying and adding to my sets. Not necessarily the best tune (I can't pick myself), but a deserved winner. That said.. I found the top 50 very strange. Loads of tunes there that wouldn't make it anywhere near my sets. Plenty of tunes that I don't even consider to be Trance. More shocked to see several artists who I consider to be at the top of the list for 2023, not to have even one tune featured. The ASOT Armin crowd is certainly interesting 🤔 Top 5: 5...
