Marketing is a complicated beast so it was hard to pick just 3, but here’s our top 3 marketing tips for authors:

📖1. Have a website. Your website is a corner of the internet that you own. Use social media to send traffic to your website, rather than solely relying on it to promote your book. Use your website to tell people about yourself, where they can buy your book(s) including links and add an email sign up box so you can start creating an email list.

📖2. Build a personal brand. It’s one of the best ways to connect with the people buying your book. We all like to buy from people rather than faceless entities, and your customers are no different. Use social media to show your face, tell people about yourself (such as how you got into writing, likes / dislikes, current books you’re enjoying...), and use stories to give a glimpse behind the scenes of your life and work (you might give them a peek at some work in progress, your office set up etc). Keep at this, it will take time to build up but it’ll be worth it!

📖3. Follow and interact with other writers. Being part of a group of fellow authors will widen your network and give you more opportunities to grow. Having people on your side who will support, share, review and buy your work is a great way for new authors to promote their work and become part of a community.
