River Dance, a grassroots trad longboarding event celebrating community, place and surfing. A day of friendly competition hosted in our backyard ( ) followed by an evening of tunes, beers, BBQ and Dance. We’re looking to run on the weekend of 17/18th of August weather and waves permitting (double over ankle and offshore). We’re lucky enough to have a load of prizes on offer for a wide range of categories thanks to the support of our talented friends and kind sponsors.
You must have a 9ft+ Single fin to enter (leave the side bites at home).
€15 entry fee for a spot in the comp, a River Dance T-shirt, and a couple of Kinnegar brews for good measure!

Been a fantastic day so far at Junior Euros in Santa Cruz Portugal. Whole team has been doing fantastic. Huge shout out to Josh Karbus on his first place 🥇 in his Round 1 heat. Team is bk on at 16:30 today .

Puerto Rico has been an insane experience. So much respect for the Irish Surf Team after this trip. Emotions run high and the determination from our athletes is second to none. Although they were put out in day 4 , it was by very small margins.
The team has come along way to get to this level . It’s done this with little investment compared to other countries budgets. The last two years the has improved this journey providing a team manager, coach and covering entry fees. Huge improvement compared to other years.
Excited to see where this progresses over the coming years.

Troggs Surf Shop circa 1998 I think . Hosting Richie Fitzgerald from Bundoran ( check out his new book about surfing in Irelands great read) and the Malloy Brothers from California. Keith, Dan and Chris Malloy were some of the first professional surfers I can remember visiting Portrush. I will never forget Keith pulling a massive backside air at Portballintrae, the first time I’d ever seen someone blasting an aerial like that on the North Coast. Loving the old Troggs sign (logo by Barry Britton) . Check out the lovely 1970’s tiles when the shop was McMillans Chemist followed by Lords Chemist. I have spent much on life in this building at 88 Main Street Portrush. As a young 12 13 14 15 year old boy I was employed by the lovely Mrs Lord and I delivered Pharmaceutical Prescriptions to the community of Portrush on my bicycle after school. I got £4 a week and I remember buying my first Panasonic Record Player from ATV located on Causeway St which was opposite our new technical surf store at 8 Causeway St. Looked forward to giving my wages to Elizabeth every Saturday morning after getting paid. Think it took me 30 weeks to buy that hifi. Great memories.
