A research team from the University of Hertfordshire is looking to speak with women of Muslim faith aged 18-24 who have low mood or depression.

This study will evaluate a new faith-based therapy programme which aims to promote and improve mental health and wellbeing of young Muslim women. Those who take part will be randomly allocated to receive one of two programmes:

1. The faith-based intervention - group therapy sessions that have been specially developed to
reflect the Muslim faith and culture.
2. Usual psychoeducation group support - standard mental health programme.

Taking part involves attending one 90-minute group session (up to 10 people per group) each week, for 6 weeks. Those who take part in the study will be involved in the study for 6 months in
total. This includes the 6 weeks of group sessions and completing questionnaires later.

The reason why 40% of the men have NEVER spoken to anyone about thier mental health is that most tent to go through psychological abuse rather than physical abuse. Psychological abuse is difficult to prove so close friends family etc will assume you're just making things up.

Having a sister who t**e her own life aprox 27 years ago (she was 22 I was 24) if I manage to help just ONE person back away from su***de I'd say I've done a good job. People who take thier own life do so when they loose all hope, if your parents siblings or children are still alive then you have every reason to live. 27 years on my Mother still cries for her child.
