Do you know the most common thing people get wrong about making video?

Thinking that all you have to do is point and shoot! 🎥✨

The actual filming day makes up a very small, but let's face it, very visible portion of the video production process. You can forgive people for thinking that that is all there is to it!

In reality, production on a corporate video looks a little bit like this:

Pre-production 💡📨📆✨
Initial meeting to discuss brief
Proposal development
Pitching concepts
Final idea approval
Location scouting
Script writing, editing, amedning
Storyboarding
Shots list
Pre-shoot meetings with interviewees
Production scheduling
Booking extra freelancers if required
EMAILS (so many emails)

Production 🎥✨
Kit preparation (selecting, hiring, charging, packing)
Travelling to location
Setting up equipment
Lighting the space
Prepping the speakers
FILMING
Capturing all footage required from interviews to drone footage

Post Production 🖥️✨
Uploading and sifting through footage
Editing footage from shoot
Chasing brand guidelines for graphics / information from client or third party
Audio mixing (voice over / music / interviews)
Colour grading
Adding graphics and text
Sending drafts for feedback
Rendering final copies

So when a video production company is asked for a day rate, they're not quoting based on how many days of filming it will be!

✨ Re-introducing Mr and Mrs Powers, AKA High Peak Productions - Video Production Company! ✨

High Peak Productions is a family 🎥 business based in Crewe, Cheshire; we are a husband and wife team who met while working for British Cycling and enjoyed it so much that we set up our own company, so we could spend every day working alongside each other!

Coming from the cycling world, we naturally started out by making sports videos. We still love working with sports organisations and athletes, but we have also had the opportunity to move into different industries and create a much broader range of video content; from working with SMEs to the NHS! We were delighted to work with Helen from Shropshire Wills, who took advantage of our Small Business Video Package and managed to record 13 pieces of content in 4 hours - which must be some kind of land speed record!

This 'About me' video was just one of those 13 pieces. We followed up with Helen by helping her devise a digital strategy for her business, so that her content reaches as wide an audience of potential clients as possible.

The 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics start today! ⛸🥌🎿⛷🏂🇬🇧

As huge sports fans, we always look forward to these major events in the sporting calendar, but we were fortunate to get to work with Team GB Skeleton athlete Laura Deas OLY and The British Athletes Commission this autumn as she prepared for the upcoming games, so now we're all in! Which event are you most looking forward to?

Our video producer Simon was offered a chance to try out the skeleton for himself whilst he was there - (he claims they ran out of time so he never got the chance, a likely story!) - would you be brave enough to give it a go?!
