Superstition in Africa (The Case of Junior Pope):

It is just unfortunate that in Africa, we still believe so much in shrines that someone drowns in a river and after recovering them from the water, the first step they take is to declare him dead without any medic’s confirmation and decide to take him to the morgue. It took a mortuary attendant to let a population of over 500 people know that the actor was still alive.

Now instead of taking him to the hospital where adequate medical attention can be administered, the now over 1000 people rushed him to a shrine near the river where they performed unsuccessful rituals.

They only decided to finally take him to the hospital when it was too late. What a primitive people we still are??? What happened to emergency first aid? So no one amongst all those people knew or even thought of performing CPR on him?

How can you venture into a river that big without even life jackets? This is a shame to the entire Nollywood that in the 21st century, a List A actor should die in such reckless circumstances.

They need to review everything about the safety of their industry and stop parading themselves as a reputable industry. Shame!! May the soul of Junior Pope and others who lost their lives in this tragic but preventable incident rest in peace. 😭😭😭
