Big News: Jodie Holland Film evolves into Holland House!

After 4 amazing years with Jodie Holland Film I'm thrilled to introduce Holland House. A video production company built by freelancers, for freelancers.

As a seasoned freelancer, I've noticed a recurring challenge when collaborating with production companies and creative agencies. Often, we're asked to correspond via the company's generic email, leading to awkward encounters on set where we're questioned about our employment status. Do we fake employment or divulge our subcontractor status? And the frustration doesn't end there. Not only are we prohibited from showcasing the work in our portfolios, but payment becomes a relentless pursuit, arriving late, sometimes up to two months after the due date!

Let's be clear; this isn't indicative of every company, but it's a big issue within the industry, especially with larger organisations. While I respect the operational necessities of some companies, we plan to do things very differently at Holland House!

We believe in empowering independent creatives. Some of the most talented people thrive outside of traditional employment, so why not celebrate this? Say goodbye to email hassle and late payments. Our focus is on understanding our community and refining our process to suit.

Happy International Women's Day!

I woke up to some amazing news this morning... The films we produced for West London NHS were nominated in the category ‘Promoting Diversity and Inclusion in Communications’ in the NHS Communications 2024 Awards.

I am so proud to share that they won 😊

Thank you to the Perinatal Mental Health Service for trusting me with this very important project, Mother Tongue, Motherhood and Mental Health.

Creating multilingual films was a challenge, but we did it and we allowed parents to have a voice. Their own voice, in their own language!

Proud to have been crowned this weeks Oscar winner for the best pitch.

I’ve been back on the BNI horse for less than a month and have already hit a new record for the most estimates sent out in January.

I’m sure a lot of my creative friends will agree, January is a weird time for us… marketing budgets are coming to a close and there isn’t usually a great deal of work floating around.

Things could not be more different for me this year, and its all because I joined BNI Iceni - Breakfast Networking. I’m actually considering taking on my first full-time employee!!

Teri and I made some really amazing films together back in July 2022. Fast-forward 17 months and there's still a huge buzz around them 😍

Quite often that buzz fizzles out and clients move onto the next project. Well, not this one... UNICEF have just released a blog post written by Teri.

"So far, the videos have been used by a variety of services and organisations (universities, public health, maternity staff, etc) and reached over 12 countries".

I just love that this project is getting the exposure it deserves! Teaming up to raise awareness of institutional racism and discrimination is hands down the most important, raw, eye opening project I have ever been a part of.

This week I’ve had the pleasure of working with the most incredible crew 🎥

Once again, I have been given the opportunity to discuss racial discrimination and inequality within maternity care.

Over 4 days I sat down and interviewed 12 brave and inspiring women. We laughed and we cried.

I am just totally blown away by these conversations…

I’ll spend the next few months editing 4 films for the NHS, which will be launching in October. And when they do we plan to make some noise about them!!

Change is coming.

It’s only been a few days since ‘It’s Ok To Ask’ premiered and it’s already getting people talking… The project was featured on last nights news!

It’s so rewarding to see months of hard work delivering results, and fast! I’m incredibly proud to be part of the much needed conversation around equality in maternity care.

The day has finally arrived (well nearly).

My cultural awareness maternity films will be premiering at Firstsite Colchester tomorrow!

The ambition behind the project is to help midwives to better understand the challenges faced within different communities when having a child here in the UK.

We filmed over 25 individuals over 7 days in an attempt to unravel the experiences of midwives, professionals and parents. This is something that has never been done before in maternity care... so I'm feeling pretty excited to be giving such brave individuals an opportunity to be heard.

Gerard came to me looking to create some content that was a little different to their usual output, so we hired a fantastic location and shot 12 YouTube videos over two days.

As well as YouTube, the videos are also being used to support a fantastic programme being run by Our Colchester, in partnership with Lighthouse Personnel LTD. The programme is aimed at supporting the redeployment of Debenhams and Topshop/Topman staff.

These devastating closures have left hundreds without work, many of whom will need support in areas such as CV writing and interviewing. We have created videos that are packed full of advice on these subjects, and I hope they go some way towards helping individuals to feel confident in themselves, and go on to find their dream jobs.
