DiaryZapp the award winning kids diary app that allows children aged 4+ to capture their daily adventures, broaden their literacy skills and share their creations. Hello from Charlie (mum), Jon (dad), Noah (10) and Ella (8)
We’re a family who have taken the issues of children's well being, screen time, social media, and learning loss into our own hands after a conversation last year…
When Ella
was struggling with her literacy she was told to keep a diary, Noah had to do the same and when he got bored with it we asked him: what would you do to solve the problem? As app development is not our day job, a full year of sleepless nights ensued and we worked with a team of creatives to bring DiaryZapp to life. Our son’s initial idea has grown to something that will genuinely benefit families and children around the globe. Just ten minutes a day can help boost literacy skills in your child to prevent learning loss over the long summer holiday - so they can have adventures, make dens and run around being kids and you don’t have to believe everything you read in the media about hiring live-in nanny’s all summer long. When they’re written, drawn and imported their favourite pictures they can share a link to their day with friends and family that you have approved. It is by doing this that we hope to introduce children in a safe way to social media etiquette and sharing. Noah is getting to the age where he’s going to be introduced to the world of social media and I’d rather that he has a safe introduction to it, that we can educate him on, than being tossed into the fray the moment that he’s old enough. Ella’s literacy has improved and so has her confidence. We’ve made sure that DiaryZapp is fun, creative and inspiring, with no need for hours of 'screen time'. To be be featured in both the Apple and Amazon app stores in the same week was an incredibly proud moment. Read to succeed…..
Reading teaches kids new words & different ways to use words they already know.
It’s one of the best ways to extend their vocabulary.
It’s easy for them to rely on using the same words but we wanted to help ‘boost’ a child’s vocabulary so DiaryZapp offers alternative words for them to try using when they’re writing their diary.

Hello 👋 to our new followers.
We’re the Dance family, Charlie, Jon, Noah & Ella, and the creators of DiaryZapp.
Noah and Ella were asked to keep holiday diaries to prevent learning loss over the summer holidays.
But the traditional paper-based diary wasn’t a particularly fun activity for either of the children.
So we asked them what ideas they had.
Noah suggested that it would be cool to have a special app on the iPad to be able to import photos and write about their holiday adventures.
Ella wanted something eye-catching and fun to use that would be easy to send to her friends so they could stay in touch.
Today, DiaryZapp has grown from family chats on our walks and round the dinner table to being a creative digital diary that children can keep all year round.
DiaryZapp encourages kids to be creative and use their imaginations; it provides them with a fun space to record their adventures and share them with their friends.
As parents we also know how important it is that it is a safe and secure space so we’re free of Ads & In-App purchases.
Underlying all that it encourages literacy and supports emotional wellbeing,
It’s been a lot of fun and hard work to bring the kids idea to life so we’re excited to hear about the adventures that your children capture in their diary.
