As we turn towards Autumn (in the Northern Hemisphere), the time of Samhain approaches, traditionally a time for honouring the dead.
In the Death card of 'Sol Invictus' we see the ancient Irish chambered tomb of Newgrange, one of the most significant Neolithic burial grounds in Europe.
Around it we see the cycle of Taliesin, a Celtic story of death, transformation, and new life which reminds us of the cyclical nature of all things.

A real reading I gave today and an example of how you can use P*stis Sophia: the Goddess Tarot with Sol Invictus: the God Tarot, or indeed any majors-only deck alongside a full 78 card deck.
The querent had 4 major options before them. A majors-only deck is perfect for these big life decisions where big issues are involved. I drew a card for each option from P*stis Sophia. I then drew 3 further cards for each option from Sol Invictus. 78 card decks that include the minor arcana help to drill down into the issue and it’s facets. Using the two decks also gives the potential for a major arcana to come up more terms once, as it did here!

Both decks are currently available from Schiffer/Red Feather.

Another card comparison! This time Death and Alchemy from P*stis Sophia: The Goddess Tarot

Another card comparison with Sol Invictus, this time not two of the same card but two adjacent cards in the Majors. The story of Taliesin and Cerridwen is told in both decks focusing on different parts of the tale. Whereas in P*stis Sophia, XIV Alchemy (traditionally Temperance) shows the creative force being blended in Cerridwen’s cauldron of inspiration, XIII Death in The God Tarot shows the transformation sequence as Cerridwen chases Taliesin after he inadvertently receives the power of the potion.

Presenting the first in a series of comparisons between cards in P*stis Sophia and its equivalent in Sol Invictus: The God Tarot.
Here we have XVI The Tower, represented by the Yoruban Orisha Oya and the Hindu god Shiva. Both are destructive forces of nature who whirl in when the slate needs cleaning, and destroy that which no longer serves us. Whereas we see Shiva kicking the fragile tower and trampling the ego, in the P*stis Sophia card, the ego is more subtly portrayed in the testament on the gravestone, which Oya blasts with lightning. Sometimes destruction of a set idea of ourselves frees us to become something new.
