I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to announce the first of the new artists working with us for our complementary adventure!
It is who caught our eye doing daily sketches on X. We were drawn to her pieces as they conjured the same feelings that we had back in the AD&D days with their artwork. Needless to say, we are extremely excited to work with her and can’t wait for you to see her fantastic pieces!
Let’s hear what she has to say!
To be honest my favorite piece so far is this most recent piece I've made for Untold Destiny. It's representative of the emergence of my new style after completing a stint with art school.
I really enjoyed the different takes on fantasy races in the brief for this piece. I liked being able to imagine different visions rather than your standard "this is a halfling, this is a goblin," etc.
As for TTRPG art, it's something I've always wanted to do. I might play TTRPGs, but for me it's all basically art books. My artistic journey began roughly around the same time I started playing, so they are very entwined.
I've been drawing for over 25 years, with, of course, long gaps for having a paying career. I started relatively late in life, meaning I was already on a path to something completely different. I really just started picking it up in high school because all my friends were in the art club and I'd liked drawing but never really considered it. Also back then, it wasn't like it is now where any one could be an artist and make a living. I wouldn't say it was gatekept, per se, but you had to be really serious and make connections with other artists etc. The advent of social media has really made a difference in the barrier to entry. Most recently I've been taking drawing seriously since 2017 and was able to switch from operations management to self-employed artist in 2020.
