Hi everyone! As some of you already know, we're currently in Japan spending some quality time with family. We've decided to take a break from social media to fully focus on being present with our loved ones and enjoy a bit of a digital detox. We'll be a bit quiet on here until May, but don't worry, we're still working remotely. If you have any animation queries, feel free to drop us a message! 👋

It's our birthday...it's our birthday 🎶 🥳

Well, it's technically tomorrow but we're celebrating a day early before the weekend 😆

As we blow out the candles on our 3rd birthday, we can't help but reflect on the whirlwind of adventures we've had since then!

We've stumbled again and again but through it all, we've learned invaluable lessons that have shaped us into the spirited, passionate and growing studio we are today.

But this journey wouldn't have been half as incredible without the wonderful people who've stood by us every step of the way. 🙌

To our clients, partners, and friends—your unwavering support means the world to us. 🌟

Thank you for believing in us and allowing us to continue to bring your visions to life 🙏

Now, if you'll excuse us, it's time to indulge in some sweet celebrations—homemade scones, biscuits, and doughnuts, here we come! 🍰🎉

🐧 Illustration #20 ✨

journey's end is here, and we couldn't think of a better way to wrap it up than by putting the spotlight on our cherished team member's family – the African Penguins! 🐧🐧🐧

These feathered friends are facing an uphill battle, with their population plummeting by nearly 70% in just three generations, from 82,000 to 25,000 individuals. Today, only 2% of their once thriving numbers remain. Activities like oil and gas drilling, mining, overfishing, and unregulated harvesting of aquatic resources, pose significant threats to this magnificent species.

Fighting this battle for the penguins is the GLOBAL PENGUIN SOCIETY (GPS). They are working tirelessly to protect these penguins and their precious coastal habitats.

Support their efforts to conserve our beautiful world's penguin species, the oceans and the lands they call home (Their web link in the comments) 🌊❤️

Can you guess the organisation that we are highlighting from today's illustration?

It's The Wildlife Trusts✨ They work tirelessly to restore, recreate and reconnect nature on land and at sea in the UK, Isle of Man and Alderney. We wanted to illustrate a badger which has been the Trust's totem for almost a quarter of a century!

According to the 2023 Report, the UK is one of the most nature-depleted countries on the planet and it’s only getting worse 📉

Time is ticking ⏱️ and The Wildlife Trusts are calling on the politicians to act now, but they need your voice to make them listen. From reintroducing lost species to tackling climate change, find out what they’re calling for by visiting their website (🔗 link in the comments)👇 👇 👇

✨ Earlier this month Five Beavers were released in Ealing as part of rewilding London 🦫🦫🦫

In celebration of this amazing initiative by Rewild Britain, we've illustrated a Beaver for this illustration. Rewilding Britain is a charity dedicated to creating a wilder Britain that improves lives for people, nature and the climate.

Beavers were hunted to extinction in Britain 400 years ago for fur, glands and meat, but were reintroduced in England and Wales several years ago.

The presence of beavers can deliver a wide range of advantages such as;

🦫 By building dams they create new wetland habitats that benefit a host of other species ranging from fish to fungi.

🦫 Dams can also reduce flood risk, increase water storage and improve water quality.

🌊🐢 Sea turtles, remarkable ocean dwellers with a history dating back to the age of dinosaurs, are now facing a grave threat.

Today, it's disheartening to know that 6 out of 7 sea turtle species are teetering on the brink of extinction, all due to the impact of humanity. 😔

To raise awareness of this, we've illustrated the majestic Green Sea Turtle for today's illustration.

Dedicated to saving these endangered marine life is the organisation called the Captain Paul Watson Foundation UK, formally known as Sea Shepherd UK. They are a global non-profit organisation dedicated to marine conservation. Through their direct action campaigns, they strive to protect our oceans from illegal exploitation and environmental destruction, ensuring the preservation of our delicately balanced marine ecosystems.

🌳 Today's illustration depicts our local parks and green spaces.

🚨 But did you know our parks and green spaces are under threat?

Local parks and green spaces are havens for us and wildlife, providing vital green corridors and boosting biodiversity in urban areas but due to financial and development pressures it is slowly disappearing. And it is up to all of us to stop this cycle of disappearance and decline.

An organisation that is paving the way to save these parks and green spaces is the Fields In Trust. They are an independent charity with over 90 years of experience. They collaborate with various stakeholders to protect parks and green spaces, aiming for better protection at both local and national levels.

🦊 Illustration No. #16 🦊

Today we are highlighting an amazing organisation League Against Cruel Sports. They are a UK-based charity that champions animal welfare and works tirelessly to end the mistreatment and killing of animals for sport. They conduct investigations, educate the public on animal welfare, campaign for stronger animal protection laws, and manage reserves where animals can live safely and happily.

Motion Manor is one of over 120 businesses that signed the Businesses without Blood Sports Pledge.

Today's artwork shows a Red Fox which is commonly sighted in the UK but there are several large threats to their population, mainly habitat losses and fragmentations, plus exploitation and hunting.

🐘 Illustration No. 13 🐘

This , we're dedicated to highlighting remarkable organisations working tirelessly to protect endangered species, habitats, oceans, and much more.

Today's artwork features the African Forest Elephant, shedding light on the incredible efforts of Tusk. For over three decades, Tusk has championed forward-thinking and successful conservation initiatives in Africa. They collaborate with local organisations dedicated to safeguarding wildlife, including elephants, from poachers and snares, while securing protected habitats for their freedom.

African elephants are the world's largest land mammals, with males reaching an average height of up to 3 meters and weighing up to 6 tons. Following population declines over several decades due to poaching for ivory and loss of habitat, the African forest elephant is now listed as critically endangered.

Did you know that 80% of butterflies have dwindled since the '70s? 💔

According to Butterfly Conservation, we may be the last generation to enjoy butterflies and moths in abundance.

Those born in 1976 will only be in their 40s now, and yet in their lifetime more than three-quarters of our butterfly species have declined in abundance or distribution.

These creatures are nature's barometers, reflecting our environment's health. And the verdict is clear – something's terribly amiss because spotting a butterfly or moth shouldn't be a rarity...

🦋 Today's illustration is of a Large Blue Butterfly aka Phengaris arion. The Large Blue is one of the rarest butterflies in the UK and is also a globally endangered species. It was declared extinct in the UK in 1979 but has been successfully reintroduced at more than 11 sites as part of a major conservation programme by a cohort of 22 organisations, including Butterfly Conservation.

Butterfly Conservation is a UK-based charity that is working tirelessly to;

⚡ Recover butterflies and moths
⚡Connect people to nature
⚡Tackle threats to species
⚡and Manage land sustainably

62% of the UK's waste comes from the construction industry, with 32% ending up in landfills. 😱

🌍 To meet environmental goals and support the circular economy, we must rethink how we handle construction waste.

That's why today we are spotlighting the amazing work they do at The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB) in our challenge.

SPAB firmly believes in the future of old buildings and is dedicated to training the next generation of architects and craftsmen in the skilled art of preserving our historical treasures.

📚 They offer fantastic learning opportunities, from online courses to fellowships and scholarships, empowering craftspeople involved in historic building repairs.

✨ Pictured is the Coychurch in Bridgend Wales, where they recently hosted a one-day course designed to help those who care about ancient buildings to learn how traditional buildings were constructed, how they work and can decay, and how to spot and tackle common problems.

Tick Tock Tick Tock...⏱️

Today's illustration of an Atlantic Puffin is highlighting the RSPB. They do an incredible job of protecting habitats, saving species, and helping to end the nature and climate emergency.

We decided to draw the Atlantic Puffin because these beautiful puffins are one of many that are listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List❗❗

The main threat to puffins is the changes in distribution and declining numbers of small fish, while ground predators (eg rat, mink, cat) introduced to breeding colonies and pollution are also serious hazards. For instance, oil leaked from the Torrey Canyon in 1967 killed 85 per cent of the French puffins. Because of their low reproductive rate, puffins can take decades to recover from this kind of incident.

🚨 🚨 The new State of Nature Report proves that the clock is ticking, with many species (like the puffins) and habitats in serious decline.

⏱️ are calling on the politicians to act now, but they need your voice to make them listen.

Today's illustration of a Fungi (Waxcaps) highlights Plantlife: saving wild plants, a global charity working tirelessly to secure a world rich in wild plants and fungi🌱🍄

🍄 Pictured is Blackening Waxcap aka the Witch's Hat mushroom 🧙‍♀️

This fungi starts off a red-orange colour but turns black when bruised. Spookily, it's often found in graveyards. 🪦 And if that wasn't ghoulish enough, it's usually coated with sticky slime!

Waxcaps are an indicator of ancient grasslands, which are a vital piece of the puzzle in tackling the climate crisis.

Many Waxcaps, including the Witch's Hat, are decreasing in number and are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN red list!!

illustration No. 6 🐸

This we are showcasing some incredible organisations around the UK and the amazing work they do to protect endangered species, habitats, oceans and so much more.

Today's illustration is of a natterjack highlights Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (ARC)🦎

🐸 Smaller than the common toad, the natterjack toad is very rare. This amphibian breeds in warm, shallow pools on sand dunes and sandy heaths in just a handful of special places in England and Scotland; sadly, just one or two colonies now remain in southeast England and east Anglia.

Natterjack toads are mainly nocturnal; in the spring, the males all sing together at night to attract females and their calls can be heard up to a mile away!

🌊 Did you know, that many of England's offshore seabed Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) lack adequate protection, resulting in damage and degradation caused by fishing activities?

◾ 98% of the UK's offshore seabed MPAs experience fishing activity.
◾ Only 6% of the UK’s seabed MPAs legally ban bottom-towed fishing gear.
◾ A staggering 5,055 hours of fishing, including bottom trawling, occurred in Dogger Bank MPA from 2021-22.

In light of this, our 4th digital sketch is spotlighting the Marine Conservation Society. They are tirelessly working on a wide range of recovery projects both in the UK and overseas. From restoring oysters in Dornoch Firth and replanting seagrass in Plymouth Sound to improving the management of turtle fisheries in Turks and Caicos and improving awareness of sharks and rays in Anguilla, to save the future of our oceans.

Today's sketch highlights the Jellyfish as according to the Marine Conservation Society they are important indicators of change in our seas and they use this data to monitor the health of the ocean.

💔 We were absolutely devastated by this news...

The tree in Northumberland – also known as the Robin Hood tree, had been one of the world's most photographed trees until it was reduced to a stump overnight.

As our way of saying goodbye to this magnificent ancient tree, we've made an illustration as part of our challenge.

🌳 Did you know that most ancient trees in the UK have no real legal protection and face a range of threats? Our deserve the same sort of protection enjoyed by old buildings and other endangered wildlife.

The Woodland Trust is the UK's largest woodland conservation charity and they are Petitioning to the UK, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish Governments to protect our most important trees.

InkTober illustration #2:

Every October artists around the world participate in a drawing challenge to develop their skills.

This year we're doing things differently and using to showcase some incredible organisations from around the UK, that are all fighting in some way to protect the earth and all its inhabitants.

Our second digital sketch is spotlighting the Buglife - The Invertebrate Conservation Trust which is the only organisation in Europe devoted to the conservation of all invertebrates. They are actively working to save our rarest little animals, everything from bees to beetles, worms to woodlice and jumping spiders to jellyfish.

🦗 Pictured is the Wart-biter Bush-cricket now considered one of Britain's most endangered insects.

🦗 They are incredibly rare and found in only six isolated populations in southern England; two of which resulted from reintroductions. So, if you're lucky enough to hear or even see one, it's bound to be a good day!

Every October artists around the world participate in a drawing challenge to develop their drawing skills.

Engaging in challenges like this is not only really fun but also a fantastic way to push your creative boundaries and nurture your artistic talents.

But this year, we wanted to do things differently...

We want to use the opportunity of to showcase some incredible organisations from around the UK and the incredible work they are doing to protect endangered species, habitats, wildlife, oceans and so much more.

To kick things off, our first digital sketch is spotlighting the Bat Conservation Trust. The UK's leading NGO that is solely devoted to the conservation of bats and the landscapes on which they rely.

Pictured is the Greater Mouse-Eared Bat, the largest of all British Bats. Classified as critically endangered, one hasn’t been spotted in the UK since 2001.

This is due to the ongoing loss of habitat as well as habitat fragmentation.

Surprised by animation timelines? 😮🎬

Creating a fully bespoke animation can take 4-8 weeks depending on the style, duration and complexity.

Before the magic happens on screen, there's a lot going on behind the scenes.

🏗️ Just like building a house, we start with the groundwork:

Planning permission ✔️
Final vision 🌟
Architectural drawings 📐
Timelines and more ⏰
Lots of coffee ☕
And that's just the beginning!

We research your competitors, understand your audience, and develop a captivating script. We bring it all together with visuals and words, crafting a seamless visual narrative. 🎥✨

This is just the first stage of a four-part process. Storyboard, voiceover, music, and more follow. It's a creative journey that takes weeks, sometimes months, to get right.

At Motion Manor, we believe in allowing work to evolve, pushing creativity to the max. That's why we don't set rigid deadlines. Each stage is approved before moving forward, giving room for feedback, iteration, and perfection.

Check out the image to see how this process creates something distinctive and unique.
