I can do my monthly recaps without hiding all the Moving House content from you now! We had such nice weather this April, lots of dog walks, gardening and un-DIYing the house in preparation for the move. Might actually get back to projects in my recaps from May onwards!

Makers Central 2025! This year I spent my weekend volunteering with the awesome crew running a scrap wood build challenge. Armed with a collection of my scrap - prepped by my Dad - thanks! - and some tools, we let the kids design and make whatever they wanted. kindly gifted me a cordless glue gun, mini rotary tool and vacuum for clean up as well as batteries and charger - thank you! The kids had a go at engraving, carving or just gluing and decorating to make their creations. In fact I was so focussed on my stand, I took photos of everyone's makes... And not much else! It was so awesome to catch up with old friends in the Hilton bar, and make new ones too.☺️ Hopefully next year I can be a little more organised and y'know, not move house 2 days beforehand πŸ˜… it's been a whirlwind! Until next year!

Cricket Honours Boards! I realised I never posted some beauty shots - after I installed them it was Christmas eve evening and I just wanted to go home and have a drink haha

If this is your first time seeing them - my friend's cricket club commissioned two new honours boards to match their existing ones. This was a great experience trying to colour match finishes that have been exposed to the sun for 10+ years! I enjoyed making my very first commission and all the problem solving that came along the way. Including handling them - they're 1.9m long!!
🏏
Cricket season is starting again soon and I can't wait to see all the names printed on - they have a bit of catching up to do!

As if it's been 5 years since lockdown began! I didn't start this account right away in 2020, it took a couple more lockdowns before Claire and I became DIYish. We threw ourselves into sewing in April 2020. Teaching ourselves to sew with patterns for the first time to make scrubs for the NHS was the first step. I had been watching a lot of YouTube whilst sewing - made awesome crafts and builds as a friend duo, and I thought: we could do that too! So, in early 2021, we did! Eventually Claire had to move away in 2023 - don't worry we're still best of friends! You can catch her over on . I carried on with my own projects ever since. And that is the story of lockdown > DIYish! We started posting regularly on IWD so technically that's when our birthday is - but I was busy with DIY SOS that weekend so here we are - Happy 4th Birthday to DIYish! πŸ₯³ I can't wait to share what I've got in store for this year! 😁

I thought I would do a round up of January now that I'm back from holiday. Thought it might be a few photos as I didn't do loads.... Turns out I did A LOT πŸ˜… Think I might be doing one of these every month so I can see what I've actually accomplished and what fun things I've done! How was your January?

I have a sign I'd like to make as a gift, and the best way is using a scroll saw. So I've borrowed Claire's (for those new here, this was our joint DIY account!). After setting up a new blade (and adjusting the blade holders... with a hammer... gently!!) I did a few practice cuts. I have the fancy blades for plywood so next time I'll switch it out to cut them. I have loaaads of scrap plywood so will be fun to use on this sign. I also got some 9mm MDF for Β£2 in B&Q's bargain bucket for the rest. So follow along to see if I can learn to scroll saw! πŸ˜…

*ok technically not my first time, I used it for once for my mini pallet cutting board but that was like 4 years ago πŸ˜‚

Since I can't post a reel, here's a sneaky peak at what I've been up to in between busy weekends and work - the cricket boards of course! They're almost finished, just the cleats to mount and trim to attach after one more round of stain πŸ˜€ I can't wait to see them in the wall in the club house. Who remembers when I started these? πŸ™ƒ
