Sad news in music today: Legendary singer Chris Rea has passed away peacefully at 74, surrounded by his family.

Best known for our beloved holiday anthem, “Driving Home for Christmas,” he also gave us classics like “Fool (If You Think It’s Over),” “Let’s Dance,” and “The Road to Hell.”

Fun fact he once shared? He took his driving test in his dad’s ice cream van.

Rest in peace, Chris. Your music is the soundtrack to so many journeys home. 🎄🎶

Tonight's playlist is absolutely stacked with legends. We’re setting sail on a journey with Styx, and Cream is here to brighten up the evening. ☀️

You might want to grab an umbrella though, because we’ve got a stormy forecast coming from both Led Zeppelin and Whitesnake! 🌧️

Deep Purple is asking for a little silence, Twisted Sister has worked up quite an appetite, and the Damn Yankees are aiming for new heights.
Plus, Scott Silver has a double header from the Fab Four, and we'll wrap it all up with a massive festive peace anthem from another Liverpool legend. 🎄✌️
Don't miss it! 📻🔥

🎸 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗬 𝗕𝗜𝗥𝗧𝗛𝗗𝗔𝗬 to the man who laid down some of the most iconic bass lines in rock history — 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗳 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝘀! 🎂

Born on this day in 1949, Cliff joined AC/DC in 1977, stepping in as bassist and backing vocalist and bringing his steady, powerful groove to the band’s legendary sound. His first studio album with the giants was 1978’s “Powerage,” but it was the following release that cemented his place in rock ‘n’ roll history…

He was part of the monumental 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗜𝗻 𝗕𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸 lineup — an album that stormed to No. 1 in the UK, hit No. 14 in the US, and has since sold over 𝟰𝟵 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗲𝘀 worldwide. That’s more than just an album — it’s a cultural landmark, and Cliff’s bass provided the backbone for anthems like “Hells Bells” and “You Shook Me All Night Long.”

For nearly four decades, his quiet consistency and rock-solid presence on stage helped define AC/DC’s thunderous live energy. From “Dirty Deeds” to “Rock or Bust,” Cliff’s groove was always there — unwavering, undeniable, and absolutely essential.

𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗥𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗼 raises a glass to a true rock legend today! 🥃🤘

🎵 𝗧𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 all day as we spin classic AC/DC tracks featuring Cliff’s unforgettable bass work. Let’s give him the birthday salute he deserves! 🎧

Three Legends, One Birthday 🎂🎸

Today, December 13th, we celebrate three iconic artists who helped define the sound of rock across generations!

🎤 Amy Lee (1981)
The visionary voice and heart behind Evanescence.More than just the unforgettable 2003 anthem “Bring Me to Life,” Amy Lee is a classically influenced powerhouse who brought dark, cinematic rock to the forefront. With multiple Grammys and chart-topping albums like The Open Door, her artistry continues to inspire with its emotional depth and gothic grandeur.

🤘 Tom DeLonge (1975)
The pop-punk prince who co-founded Blink-182 and soundtracked a generation’s adolescence. From the infectious hook of “All The Small Things” to selling over 50 million albums worldwide, Tom’s voice and guitar defined an era of cheeky, high-energy rock. His influence stretches far beyond Blink into explorations of alt-rock and beyond.

🔥 Ted Nugent (1948)
The Motor City Madman himself!A guitar virtuoso and relentless rock outlaw, Nugent’s solos are legendary. His string of late-70s solo albums, from the self-titled debut to the iconic Cat Scratch Fever and the wild Double Live Gonzo!, are pure, unadulterated hard rock. Love him or debate him, his impact on rock guitar and arena-shaking riffs is undeniable.

From gothic anthems and pop-punk rebellion to shredding guitar fury—three very different paths, all cemented in rock history.

Happy Birthday to all three! 🎶

Which of these artists’ birthdays are YOU rocking out to today? Tell us in the comments!

Remembering a true virtuoso, born December 6th, 1956: Randy Rhoads.

While many know him as the explosive guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, Randy's heart was deeply rooted in classical music. He was a dedicated guitar teacher who applied classical discipline to his playing, revolutionizing heavy metal with complexity and soul. His work on albums like Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman set a new, unreachable standard for guitarists.

His life ended far too soon in a 1982 plane accident, but his legacy as one of the most influential and skilled metal guitarists of all time is forever cemented.

Rest in power, Randy. Your music continues to teach us all.

Listen with us today as we celebrate his monumental contributions to rock.

Quick quiz for the rock fans! 🤔 Who is the guitarist who has been holding down the rhythm for Guns N' Roses since 2002, while also being a secret weapon for The Psychedelic Furs?

If you said Richard Fortus, you're right! Born on this day in 1966, Fortus is a true unsung hero of the six-string. His versatile and powerful playing has been essential to the sound of two iconic acts.

Question for you: What's your favorite Guns N' Roses song to hear his killer riffs in? Is it "Chinese Democracy," "Better," or a classic tune he helps bring to life on stage?

We're celebrating his birthday by playing his best work all day long. Tune in!
