I love these vintage ladders but they were looking a bit tired and grubby. I used Big Mamas Butta to give a refresh and enhance the wood grain whilst preserving all the lovely patina

New video alert!

I’m glad to see the back of this piece, I really am! I used a raised patterned wallpaper to disguise some damage on this vintage washstand which was originally something I painted a few years back.

I also wanted the pink to be on the outside initially but it just wasn’t working so I went to my trusty colour Hampton Olive and used a pop of pink on the interior.

It’s finally finished!

You know how long I’ve been fighting with this piece. It’s been driving me mad but I’m pleased to say it’s finally done. Hooray!

The sneakiest of sneak peeks as I had to rush out on the school run but I’ll be working on the video for this and show you how it finished up very soon!

It’s raining (again) here in the UK.

Autumn is definitely in the air and although I don’t decorate for the seasons, I do find myself drawn toward more mellow shades at this time of year. Hampton Olive is the perfect ‘grown up green’ and the colour choice of the piece I’m finishing up at the moment (although it didn’t start out that colour!)

It’s taking forever to do but I’m on the home stretch. Or I hope I am at least 😂

I’m interested to know: do you decorate for the seasons?

I can’t resist a console table

Especially when it’s rustic and chunky like this one 😋 I have another stashed safely away in storage very similar to this and it’s calling me but as always I’m undecided on a colour. I might be feeling a bit of red but that will probably all change by the time I actually get round to painting it. Or if you’re looking for a similar piece to this, I can paint it to whatever shade you fancy (as long as it isn’t white) 😂

More delicious florals!

I love the colours in this transfer. It could work with pretty much any colour background but I used Kudzu for a shabby chic kind of look.

It actually has three sheets in the pack but I only used one for this central design and aged it with some black wax.

Some of you were incredibly close but no one was spot on with their guess.

Those little wooden scraps of wood I was painting a while back were making these! Christmas plaque decorations featuring a new transfer design from Dixie Belle Paint called ‘Nutcracker’

I know what you’re thinking: Christmas in August!?! BUT lots of hand made products and craft items are made now, if not earlier in order to ensure a good amount of stock levels for the festive season

And for anyone that was interested, the colours used were The Gulf, Farmhouse Green, Soft Pink and Rebel Yellow all from the Chalk Mineral Paint range

On our way home!

Corfu has been absolutely beautiful. Very hot but such a gorgeous spot. Here’s a few of the decent snaps of our stay.

We’re currently waiting for a slightly delayed plane in a crowded airport. I’m definitely ready for my own bed 😴

This one is called Dragonfly Blooms and LOOK at how classy this pair of nightstands are!?! I know I love bold colour, crazy texture and all the things but some pieces just demand a more classy makeover.

We’re all tired but we made it!

We’ve had a lovely first day in Corfu, swam in the sea most of the day and just rela###ed. It’s the kids first ‘abroad’ holiday and they can’t believe how warm it is.

We all wore green by coincidence- definitely wasn’t planned 😂

I’m sure you know by now green is my favourite colour but did you know there’s a green that’s also METALLIC! It has the most gorgeous shimmer to it which catches the light beautifully.

How amazing is this colour?

I’ve only used it on part of a project before, I’ve never actually done an entire piece in it. I have no idea why because it’s AMAZEBALLS.

This piece started out white (boooo) and had a factory finish on it. Shiny, slick, not the best for painting. But that doesn’t mean you CAN’T paint those types of surfaces. You just need to know how to treat them first.

I’ve just waved this custom piece off to its home with my lovely customer so I can show you the full reveal.

As you know, the Bone Inlay stencil is one of my favourites so when my customer sent me her ideas for a desk I was so excited to get started.

It took me longer than I originally thought with all the cubbies and making that stencil fit on those side panels was a challenge but we got there in the end!

Removing wax to repaint a piece is actually pretty easy! Just work in small areas to avoid the white spirits from drying 👌

About FAFF Designs

I'm Connie the owner of FAFF Designs. I developed a love of upcycling and painting furniture a few years ago whilst on maternity leave with my son. Since then my business has grown from strength to strength. I have attended multiple workshops to learn and perfect new and advanced painting techniques as well as developing a few of my own! I only use the best products which I try and test thoroughly. I work from our home which is in Tutbury, a rural village in Staffordshire, Midlands. I have a background in Art and Design - Art was my favourite subject at school so it was a natural path to pursue this onto my A-Levels then onto Art College. I then went to Leeds University and studied Theatre Design. I have always wanted to use my creative skills for something but never really found the right thing until now: my love for art and creating mixed with my love for vintage furniture! It also makes me incredibly happy that the pieces I use are re-used and not thrown away. Most of them are just dated and drab but given a lick of paint and some FAFF treatment they're ready to adorn your home once again! I recently won the ‘Fliprunway Faux Finish Refinishing Artist of the Year sponsored by Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint’ award. These new awards aim the raise the bar on the Refinishing & Upcycling Industry and I’m thrilled to have my work recognised. As well as the pieces you see for sale, I offer a commission service. I can either paint something you already own or am happy to source something bespoke for you. I do hold some unpainted items in storage so please do get in touch if you’re after something specific. Collection is welcome from my home in Tutbury, Staffordshire or I offer a nationwide courier service.
