This little piece proved so popular on social media I thought I’d put a step by step guide on how to replicate the look on my blog.

It’s started with prep (as always) and covers priming, paint blending, applying and layering transfers, topcoat application and gold detailing.

I’ll drop the link in the comments below if you fancy a read 👇🏼

Sometimes pieces just need a simple finish.

This one is no exception and if I’m doing this style of finish I’ll usually use Silk Mineral Paint. It lends itself so well to a clean, one colour finish.

It’s an all in one paint which means it has a built in stain blocking primer and a built in topcoat. Brilliant for people like me that hate topcoating 🤣 It’s also UV stable which means it’s perfect for outdoor projects.

I’ll link this pretty shade below 👇🏼

Neutrals!?! Who is she? 😱

There’s a reason I’ve been playing around with a bright and breezy neutral look this week. I’ve actually enjoyed it, even though I am a colour lover at heart. It’s nice to do something a bit different every now and again.

If you want to see why I’ve been dabbling with white paint, you’ll have to pop and watch the video - I’ll link it in the comments 👇🏼

Fan of florals?

Me flippin too! And I LOVE pink and green together - it’s my favourite colour combination. Well, this paper is currently on offer. It’s huge too, A1 to be precise.

I’ll add a link to the paper and the rest of the items on offer at the moment too if you fancy treating yourself this weekend 💚🩷

Did you miss the pretty underwhelming ‘before’ shot of this yesterday?

Hopefully this one is a bit more appealing 😆

I’m so pleased with how this turned out and hopefully shows you don’t need a spectacular piece of furniture in order to create something colourful and unique.

I’ll add the link to the video in the comments if you’d like to watch the transformation

As lovely as old furniture is, there’s no denying modern pieces like this are showing up more often in charity shops.

Can it be upcycled and be given a finish with more character and colour?

I’ll link the makeover video below and you can be the judge 😆

Sunday Roast.

It’s everyone’s favourite time of the week. I must admit, I have been very busy this week and probably haven’t given the trolls enough time and attention that they crave.

I’ve kept it short and sweet with this one and included a picture of said troll’s profile picture for context.

Same time next week 😉

Operation ‘relocation’ 😆

We’ve been busy this week moving everything out of here into my new workshop and storage space. Mental how much you can accumulate over the space of a few years. There was stuff in there I genuinely forgot I had.

This insulated shipping container has been brilliant for storing painted pieces. It’s honestly one of the best things I did a few years back when I was sick to death of shimmying around furniture stacked up at home.

I won’t miss heaving pieces in and out the car every time a piece was completed or something sold. I also won’t miss the rent every month 🥴

Having said that it’s been excellent and I’d highly recommend this type of storage for anyone wanting to store painted pieces to free up space in their home or work space. Make sure you get an insulated one though - it makes a huge difference (especially if you’re in the UK)

About FAFF Designs

I'm Connie the owner of FAFF Designs. I developed a love of upcycling and painting furniture a few years ago whilst on maternity leave with my son. Since then my business has grown from strength to strength. I have attended multiple workshops to learn and perfect new and advanced painting techniques as well as developing a few of my own! I only use the best products which I try and test thoroughly. I work from our home which is in Tutbury, a rural village in Staffordshire, Midlands. I have a background in Art and Design - Art was my favourite subject at school so it was a natural path to pursue this onto my A-Levels then onto Art College. I then went to Leeds University and studied Theatre Design. I have always wanted to use my creative skills for something but never really found the right thing until now: my love for art and creating mixed with my love for vintage furniture! It also makes me incredibly happy that the pieces I use are re-used and not thrown away. Most of them are just dated and drab but given a lick of paint and some FAFF treatment they're ready to adorn your home once again! I recently won the ‘Fliprunway Faux Finish Refinishing Artist of the Year sponsored by Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint’ award. These new awards aim the raise the bar on the Refinishing & Upcycling Industry and I’m thrilled to have my work recognised. As well as the pieces you see for sale, I offer a commission service. I can either paint something you already own or am happy to source something bespoke for you. I do hold some unpainted items in storage so please do get in touch if you’re after something specific. Collection is welcome from my home in Tutbury, Staffordshire or I offer a nationwide courier service.

I often get asked about the products that I use. My paint stockist is Shabby Nook and they shop paint products and accessories nationwide. You can find them at
