Bradley Stoke Radio begin in June 2011 as an online radio station, during that month, BSR started on a two-week RSL (Restricted Service Licence) provided by OFCOM. During July 2011, it was decided by all members to apply to OFCOM for a full-time community radio licence. This would allow us to be on FM 24/7 365 days a year. We then did another two-week RSL during December 2011, during that period we found out from OFCOM that we had been granted a full-time community radio licence. We then moved locations to where we are now.
After a lot of work, 12th September 2013 we became live on 103.4FM in Bradley Stoke & the surrounding areas (7-mile radius).
We are a station consisting of a multitude of shows, ranging from many contrasting areas, expertise and specialisms!
Over the years we have worked with many community groups, charities, local primary schools. We have also worked with new areas close to us like Charlton Hayes & Cheswick. We have taken part in South Glos Ambitions event where we trained over 120 students over two days in editing skills & recording skills. We have also taken part in South Glos Internship event.
Recently, we have just refurbished our studios, we originally had office partitions, but with a limited budget of £1000, managed to build totally soundproof studio walls. We also heard by from OFCOM and have had our Community Radio Licence extension through for a further five years.
We are always working within the community whether it would be an awareness day at the local town shopping centre, providing PA at a school fayre, or providing PA over three days at the Bradley Stoke Festival. In the past we have been at Bristol Harbour Festival, Bristol International Balloon Fiesta.
Here at Bradley Stoke Radio we are run completely by volunteers – that includes, presenters, website designers, technical engineers and much more!
We are all passionate about creating a radio station in our community to benefit Bradley Stoke and the local communities; putting the people and its community on the map – including Little Stoke, Stoke Gifford, Filton, Almondsbury and more…
BSR completely welcomes all in the community and beyond and we look forward to meeting you soon!
