Winner Winner 📏📏
Team are still on cloud nine after last Thursday night’s double whammy at the 2023.
We were very pleased to be nominated in the Brand Identity category for our work on and thrilled to win Gold on the night, amid stiff competition from some of Scotland’s finest agencies 🏴
The fun didn’t end there though — and we were truly delighted to be selected as the recipient of this year’s Chair’s Award for Design. Still buzzing!

Producing the finest printed products is a big part of what we do at Windmill Printing. But behind the scenes we spend alot of time discussing projects, giving advice to our clients and running test prints to see if we can push the boundaries of what's possible in print.
We were proud to work with in such a way on the project for - and it's so rewarding to see the finished result!

New Work -
Lineage is at the heart of both the brand and its products, so we wanted to ensure that the nine generations of Thomsons were represented in the physical bottle. We created handcrafted typography and monograms inspired by the historical archives, as well as a bespoke glass bottle design to celebrate the nine generations – the first of its kind – with a side for each generation and the collective monogram sitting front and centre.
We felt it was important that this bottle retained a distinctive whisky silhouette, a testament to the family’s authenticity and heritage. After many iterations and 3D design prototyping, the final finish was refined slightly for manufacture in glass, while still delivering our ultimate objective of creating a timeless but contemporary bottle.

In collaboration with .me and we created three tiers of packaging for the Core, Rare and Crown ranges – all based around this notion of “uncasking”. In each instance we turned the hypothetical cask inside out, bringing the charred interior to the fore.
We were thrilled to be nominated for both Craft and Packat last year’s are were delighted to walk away with the win for the Craft award for our work.

We produced the neck label on the bottle using Ebony Coltskin emboss, and the gold box label. A full coverage gold foil on the box label certainly had its challenges, but we did it!

It’s not just our products that are getting into the reusable spirit, we’re doing it in the print shop too. We recently took delivery of a shredder that allows us to turn our empty boxes, paper wrapping and cardboard into packing material to protect orders leaving the warehouse!
