What you need to get admission to study int the uk.

2- Original transcript for post graduate studies.

3-WAEC or GCE. Some schools accepts
NECO.

4- Academic reference,

5-Work or character reference;

6- English proficiency letter/ Test

7-Personal statement or SOP.

8- UK standard Cv/ Resume

For undergraduate, you don’t need number 2. You need character reference only for number 5.

Preparing your documents for admission?.

1 - Name your documents before saving them on your phone or PC. EG -ULOMA NWOGU’S TRANSCRIPT, ULOMA NWOGU’S DEGREE CERTIFICATE, ULOMA NWOGU’S WAEC.

2- Do not save documents named to a particular university. EG- SOP FOR MIDDLESEX UNIVERSITY but the SOP content is addressed to University of Leicester and application submitted to the university of Leicester.

3- Save your documents in PDF format.

4- Merge your transcript pages into 1 document.

5-Each international passport page carries a unique code for individual verification and identification. The code needs to be clear and visible for easy identification. Scan your passport data page,DO NOT TAKE A PICTURE, so as to get a clearer view of your passports unique code.

Getting an offer in an international friendly university is difficult, these universities are struggling with high number of applications.
It will be advisable to prepare your documents in a way that when they get to your turn, they don’t need to go back and forth before offering you a place. Also preparing your documents neatly will make it easier for the university staff to make a decision instead of struggling.
I hope am making sense.

POST STUDY VISA/GRADUATE VISA -

A Graduate visa gives you permission to stay in the UK for at least 2 years after successfully completing a course in the UK.

You must be in the UK when you apply.

You can apply for a Graduate visa if all of the following are true:

1-you’re in the UK
2-your current visa is a Student visa or Tier 4 (General) student visa
3-you studied a UK bachelor’s degree, postgraduate degree or other eligible course for a minimum period of time with your Student visa or Tier 4 (General) student visa
4-your education provider (such as your university or college) has told the Home Office you’ve successfully completed your course.

You can ask your education provider if you’re not sure whether they’ve told the Home Office you’ve successfully completed your course.

A Graduate visa lasts for 2 years. If you have a PHD or other doctoral qualification, it will last for 3 years.

Your visa will start from the day your application is approved.

You cannot extend your Graduate visa. However, you may be able to switch to a different visa, for example a Skilled Worker visa.

As a woman, the idea of coming to the Uk alone with your children while your husband stays back in nigeria is one that needs to be thoroughly considered.
This plan works if your first child is more than 13.
You can not leave children under 13alone by themselves in the uk. It’s against the law.

You need to go to school, attendance is mandatory here in the uk. You don’t want your CAS withdrawn due to low attendance.

You have a SETTLED family here and they are willing to assist you with child care.

This plan should be because your husband has a lucrative job or business which brings in a lot of money, because he will be sending money as 20hrs a week will not be able
To sustain you and your children.

Don’t unalive yourself ooo: you can’t do it alone.

Even us that have hands on Husbands, childcare have given us grey hair.

The most recent issue bothering couples I have met recently is this. Both Man and wife are graduates and they both want to come to the uk through study. Because of the change regarding dependant. Especially when both couple graduated with 2.2, 3rd class or HND.
The man have been working but the woman have been a stay at home mum.
If the man comes to the uk for taught masters alone, he will find it difficult to settle due to fees. He can not also leave his family without any source of income.
The woman on the other hand graduated 13 years ago, have never worked and can not keep up with studies. She has 3, 4 or 5 children who she can not leave by themselves to come over because Husband needs to go to work.
They both do not trust any one to care for their children.

When Chucks and I were planning to come back to the Uk, we had a plan. I do my Msc, afterwards he will switch from dependant visa to students visa to enable him do his Msc too. When we arrived the uk, I was almost finished with my studies when the law changed. Dependants can’t switch in the uk, they have to leave the country to apply.
We switched to plan B, I enrolled for MRES, which is a Progression from Msc to PhD (remember you have to show academic progression). And I was still using my already completed Msc to look for jobs that offer sponsorship:

But currently the law is better for students, Dependants can switch in the UK. Students gets 2years post study visa after studies, they are no more in a hurry to leave or under pressure.

Students saying they don’t want post study visa is the most ridiculous statement I have heard since living in the UK. Trust me you don’t know what it’s like to be under pressure to leave 3months after studies.
Make use of the opportunity you have because you have alot of it.

I need you to have a plan A, B and C, so as not be taken unawares without knowing what to do:
BEST OF LUCK 🤞

Learning Beyond the Classroom Walls

Studying abroad is more than just books and lectures—it’s life unfolding in ways you never imagined.

It’s the quiet lessons you learn while wandering unfamiliar streets, feeling the pulse of a new city and its stories. It’s the warmth of local festivals that pull you into traditions you never knew existed.

And then, there are the late-night study sessions. Not just about exams, but about life—sharing dreams, struggles, and laughter with friends who come from places you’ve only seen on maps.

Studying abroad changes you. It teaches you not just what’s in the textbooks, but what it means to live, connect, and grow in a world so beautifully diverse.

Planning to study or work in the UK in 2025? Carry your wallet along!

The UK government has introduced significant updates to visa requirements, including higher financial thresholds and application fees. Here’s what you need to know:

📌 Financial Requirements for Students
Students must now demonstrate increased living expense reserves based on their location.

📌 Fee Updates
Application fees for various visa categories, including student and skilled worker visas, have been revised.

📌 Exemptions
These changes do not apply to:
✅ Students already residing in the UK
✅ Nationals from visa-exempt countries
✅ Professionals like healthcare workers and armed forces personnel (fee waivers apply).
