Nicola Bulley: Paul Ansell 100% convinced she is not in the river

The partner of missing Nicola Bulley is "100 per cent convinced" she did not fall in the river, as detectives say they are keeping an open mind about what happened.

The 45-year-old vanished two weeks ago on a riverside dog walk in St Michael's on Wyre, Lancashire.

Paul Ansell told Channel 5 the family was going through "unprecedented hell".

No trains will run through Preston Railway Station from 18 February as part of a £1.5m upgrade at the Lancashire station, Network Rail said.

The force began a search to track down a woman seen wearing a yellow coat and pushing a pram, who was walking on Garstang Road and Blackpool Lane on 27 January.

Saturday evening, the force wrote that it was "pleased to say that the woman came forward very quickly", stressing that she was "very much being treated as a witness".

Burnley Town Hall: Dry rot in Grade-II listed building

The fungus has caused structural damage to the space below the roof in the Grade II-listed town hall.
Repair work is now under way in the three-storey Victorian building.

The council has submitted a planning application for the ceiling's restoration. Meanwhile investigations into the spread of the rot and the damage it has caused will also be carried out.

Nicola Bulley: Key witness found in search for dog walker

Nicola Bulley, 45, was last seen walking next to the River Wyre off Garstang Road, in St Michael's on Wyre, at about 09:15 GMT on Friday.

Her phone was found on a bench still connected to a work call, officers said.

Lancashire Police said the witness, who was walking a white fluffy dog in the area, was "currently being spoken to".

Woman who was out walking her dog has gone missing

Nicola Bulley, 45, was last seen at around 9.15am yesterday (Friday, January 27) on the footpath by the river off Garstang Road in St Michael’s on Wyre.

Immediately prior to going missing, Nicola was walking her dog, described as a brown-coloured Spaniel.

The dog has since been found close to where we believe Nicola was last seen.

Burnley councillors pledge to clear pavements of obstructions

Advertising boards and cafe tables and chairs on pavements are causing major problems for disabled people in a town, a council has been told.

Councillors in Burnley unanimously backed a crackdown on "street clutter" after a motion brought by Green Party councillor Martyn Hurt.

Mr Hurt said visually-impaired people were being obstructed and sometimes had to walk on roads.

Morecambe pair who ran social club sentenced over fatal fire

A mother and son who ran a social club have been sentenced for fire safety breaches which led to the deaths of two men.

John McCartney, 60, and 70-year-old Philip Townsend, known as Tony, died as a result of the fire at Gordon Working Men's Club in Morecambe on 9 October.

Heather Goffin, 55, admitted 13 charges while Callum Goffin, 26, admitted six.

The former was jailed for eight months while the latter was handed a six-month jail term, suspended for twelve.

Hutton crash: Woman, 92, injured in two-car collision

She was a passenger in a Ford Ka which was involved in a collision with a Mercedes in Liverpool Road, Hutton at about 12:40 GMT on Saturday.

The 88-year-old driver of the Ford and the 21-year-old Mercedes driver were not seriously injured, Lancashire Police said.

Lancaster boy, six, climbing 12 mountains in charity bid

A six-year-old boy is climbing the height of Mount Everest to raise money to help children at a local hospice "have holidays".

Oscar Burrow said he wanted to take on the challenge as "it's the hardest mountain in the world".

The Lancaster boy had originally decided he wanted to climb the real Mount Everest but his dad Matt helped him come up with a more realistic plan.

He is now midway through his quest to climb the equivalent height in the UK.

A businessman who set up a community bank in his home town has said he is "living the dream" after his story was made into a Netflix film.

Bond star Rory Kinnear plays Dave Fishwick in the movie, called Bank of Dave, which premiered on Sunday.

The Charity Commission said its inquiry had uncovered evidence of serious financial mismanagement at the Ashley Foundation in Lancashire.

Burglars steal medals from 90-year-old former soldier in Darwen

Robbers broke into the veteran's home in Ross Street, Darwen, on New Year's Eve and "made a untidy search of the rooms", Lancashire Police said.

A Nikon camera was stolen along the two medals which police said were awarded for "bravery". One is a National Service medal while the other is thought to be a longer service medal.

Senior councillors have been asked to approve a contract for the scheme.
