Behold, my stuff!
These are new products I used when painting the poxwalkers.
Can honestly say all of them are amazing. (Note to self artist white spirit is just white spirit) My thoughts.

Kimera Kolors - amazing opacity and designed to be an artists paint range for miniature painting all clothing and leather was painted by mixing these.

Inks - I used a mix of liquitex and daler rowney on the skin over a zenithal prehighlight.

MIG ammo metallics - the silvers are the best and smoothest I have ever used. Retiring my scale 75 which is saying something. (Not used the golds, brass and copper yet)

Mr Weathering - can be used straight or thinned with white spirit. I used with both cotton buds and brush to remove excess and found cotton buds remove much better, it might take more practice but using a brush just displaces it.

Oil Paints- I used these as a wash mixed a little brown and black and used white spirits to create a wash. For same reasons as above cotton buds suited me better to come back and remove where I wanted full base colours to show.
Mixing took a bit of getting used to as I did a batch of 10 with the wash way too thick and it looked uncontrolled (luckily still very Nurgley)

In summary if you like the idea of mixing your own tones and being Bob Ross then Kimera are amazing, if not stick to pre mixed tones.
I would say everything else can genuinely add to any mini painters skill and efficiency and I am already mentally planning how they will be incredible time savers and improvements in my upcoming projects.

Even tried contrasts properly on the nurglings.

Didn’t quite finish the unit but am pretty close. Life took over this week as I’m going on holiday for a week tomorrow and had to get this straight at work and home prior to our hols.

I’ll be back next weekend and may have finished these guys and be able to show the next indomitus unit.

Calling all prolific non painters or non finishers of projects!!
One of my best friends IG: has laid down a challenge and slapped me with the proverbial hobby glove.
Paint a faction 1 unit per week and finish with a fully painted game of 9th edition and a 🍻

The rules👇🏼
• Pick a faction
• Paint 1 unit per week
• Share WiPs
• Tag us in
• Use on your posts.

He won the roll off and picked Necrons so I get the Marines. Let the brushes do the talking!

A bit of background to this.......Mike and I have been really good mates since 2004 we have enjoyed this hobby in all its forms together normally with loose rules knowledge (on his part 😜), usually a ‘beer o’clock’ is involved but most importantly we rarely have fully painted armies.
The truth is we are both guilty of not finishing projects before moving on to new shiner things.
2020 has been about getting stuff DONE for me so for Mike to suggest this is a serious thing and will be a milestone for both of us.

We want as many people to be part of this as possible so if you are like us and guilty of having a huge pile of shame please join us, encourage us, get encouraged and turn the trend on what we normally do with new boxes.

Ok so I am late with this update but that’s because I was up until just after midnight finishing this weeks challenge. A Leviathan and Contemptor dred for my Deathguard.
This is a especially pleasing for me as i planned on having a week off after my 2k army in a week challenge.

Also another milestone conquered twice over as these are the first forgeworld models I have ever completely finished. The fear of not doing them justice has always been a huge barrier.

I’ve taken myself right out of my comfort zone and converted up some engines of war for the death guard.
Now contemplating a speed paint on them tonight 🤔

2k army started and finished in 1 week 🥵
So chuffed with this project and surprised with the quality I managed to produce.
The decision to paint the material as flayed flesh really added to the time and challenge but I think was worth it. I’ll add some close ups on my weekly round up post.

Sometimes progress comes at the cost of results. This week I have had an absolute blast. I have prepped my next big project 😬🦠 I sorted the new pile of shame that painting my old pile of shame created BITS ON SPRUES!

More rewarding tho I have invested in my own development and been learning some photography skills and then best of all some hobby time with the kids doing some airbrushing.

Great hobby week without finishing a unit.

This week I challenged myself to paint a 1350point Custodes army on 7 days. I FAILED. I didn't get the Jetbikes and JB captain done 😞
However I did finish the 4 infantry units which actually means that only 24 weeks into the year I have just hit my full 2020 target. It also takes me past 6000pts of 40k painted in under 6 months.
