LET'S KEEP THIS ONE GOING way beyond yesterday and today.
We’ve read the countless posts about the billions of pounds live music generates to boost economies; and we’ve frowned as, as usual, our government falls woefully behind other countries in it’s support of UK live music.
But live music is more than money. It’s more than our superstars unable to pick up their million pound Glastonbury pay cheques. I for one feel uncomfortable when we just talk about music as a financial commodity without expanding to the value of it’s power to create community, coming together, to unite us all in a way only music can. It’s crucial for happiness, wellbeing, expression. All as essential as ever right now. With value beyond all monetary economy. THAT is why our government needs to wake up.
So we, as a struggling live-music-dependent business who have received very little government support (but will, come hell or high water survive), just want to remind you that yes, we must continue to fight a government as short-sighted as ever with regards the economic value of live music, but if we’re left in the cold, if we’re continually overlooked, jobs and businesses lost, venues closed, festivals cancelled, it’s up to us to soldier on and believe in the power of live music to transcend all adversity. As it always will.
Music is stronger than any sh*tty government. As are all those who choose to devote their lives to it. We will always survive. The music will always play.
Hang on in there. Keep posting your last live performances. And don’t forget: THERE WILL BE MORE. Soooo many more. Keep this thing moving. Sending love 💕✊
