Fantastic session this morning at Aston University interviewing the charismatic and visionary vice chancellor Professor Aleks Subic for the The Business Influencer Publication podcast - we spoke all things education - building a culture of innovation and life long learning, being agile and adaptable whilst having processes and systems in place to scale and grow and above all / a total belief in partnership working and collaboration if we are to achieve the full potential of the surrounding community.

A couple of very interesting days in the Black Country especially in Wolverhampton.
Yesterday I had the good fortune to see the revamped and hugely impressive Civic Halls in Wolverhampton. I remember playing there with my bhangra band - Achanak - many moons ago.

With extensive funding from the Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership where I was a Board Member - I was so proud to the see the money put to good use.

Today I was at the West Midlands Combined Authority board meeting in Wolverhampton where there was an interesting statistic - as a region - the manufacturing sector had contacted by 5% whilst Arts, Entertainment and recreation had climbed by over 8% - the investment in the Civic Halls looks well
judged in view of these figures.

Finally, having spent a couple of years on the WMCA board myself, I was proud to see my 18 year old daughter Simren K. Johal
address the Board in her role as Chair/Member of the West Midlands Young Combined Authority.

It was great to spend time with the entrepreneur and founder of E Bookers Dinesh Dhamija (yesterday in Covent Gardens ) who was on the front cover of the The Business Influencer Publication and who was also our lifetime achievement award winner at the The Signature Awards in London.

Looking forward to hearing and reading about what the Liberal Democrats and its leader Ed Davey can offer the business community not just locally but also nationally in the next issue of the magazine.
