We continue the legacy of local Birmingham DJ and music creator Tony de Vit who became one of the most successful DJs and most prolific producers on the UK dance music scene in the 90s.

Tony believed in championing and supporting new talent, and the Academy aims to give young people who want to learn the skills to DJ and produce music the opportunity to do this.

The TDV Academy is a non-profit organisation that will be funded through events, sponsorship, and donations. We aim to offer free workshops to schools and colleges and make our mobile academy available for community events and festivals too.

Our workshops will be produced and presented by people already working in the music industry who are keen to share their first-hand experience on learning to mix and their understanding of music production, while offering guidance on the hardware and software required to follow their passion and realise their dreams.

We hope TDV Academy will assist interested youths to take the basics that we teach them to go on to self-promote and ultimately make a career for themselves.

Today we welcomed more budding DJs down to the The TDV Academy in Birmingham 💯💯

Taking them through the basics and starter controllers to using pro equipment with the professionals 🎧🎧

Taking your own time out to help others and see such smiling happy faces and soon to be skint parents is something special 💙💙

Give the chance and hope to those that want to follow their dreams 💫💫

Massive thank you again to all those brave talented kids who took part in the pilot event for The TDV Academy at DNA Studios

Thank you to the parents for bringing them along and letting them have a go, we hope you are as proud as we are (hopefully won’t cost you too much money with their new hobby)

Some real concentration as you can see in the pics (that was just Sarah) and fun had by all, great to see my little wing man Riley behind the decks too (big love ColYvonne White)

The TDV Academy

Mission statement

To enable and assist aspiring West Midlands youths to grow their potential to succeed as DJs and music producers by teaching them basic knowledge about the music industry and giving them access to professional equipment and advice.

About the TDV Academy

The TDV Academy is being set up to continue the legacy of local Birmingham DJ and music creator Tony de Vit who became one of the most successful DJs and most prolific producers on the UK dance music scene in the 90s.

Tony believed in championing and supporting new talent, and the Academy aims to give young people who want to learn the skills to DJ and produce music the opportunity to do this.

The TDV Academy is a non-profit organisation that will be funded through events, sponsorship and donations.

We aim to offer free workshops to schools and colleges and make our mobile academy available for community events and festivals too. Full details will be revealed on our website.

Over time we hope to secure permanent premises in Birmingham for the TDV Academy.

Our workshops will be produced and presented by people already working in the music industry who are keen to share their first-hand experience on learning to mix and their understanding of music production, while offering guidance on the hardware and software required to follow their passion and realise their dreams.

We hope the TDV Academy will assist interested youths to take the basics that we teach them to go on to self-promote and ultimately make a career for themselves.

Tony de Vit was just awarded a Civic Society Blue Plaque memorial in Birmingham; the first DJ in Britain to be bestowed with this honour.

Tony always helped others and we want to continue this ethos by building our Academy in his name.
