On Friday 5th December, Front Street News and Post Office will be under new ownership. We hope that you will support the new owner moving forward as you have with us over the last 7.5 years.

We would like to say a huge thankyou to our customers for their kindness, custom and friendships. We feel lucky to have been a big part of the community and got to know some of you and your families.

On Friday the Post Office and all of its services will not be available until around lunchtime. This is due to officials having to do the legal handover of the business. The newsagents will be open as normal but you won’t be able to pay bills, top up electric/gas or do any kind of banking. We will post an update here as soon as the Post Office is able to open.

We wish you a very happy Christmas and best wishes for 2026.

Unfortunately we will have to close at 12pm today due to staff sickness/shortage.

We don’t take these decisions lightly but we only have 3 part time members of staff. They have commitments on days that they’re not in work so if they are ill, it is extremely difficult to get cover to enable us to stay open. The post office doesn’t supply cover to help post offices and myself and Martyn aren’t always able to do the extra hours either.

We will reopen at 6am tomorrow morning (Thursday) and hopefully everything will be back to normal.

Unfortunately we are closing this morning at 9.30am due to staff sickness/shortage.

This is completely out of our control and not a decision that we really want to make.

We will be open at 6am tomorrow morning as usual.

We are letting our customers know in advance that for a two week period at the end of June our opening times will be reduced so that we can enjoy a well earned break.

Please note that this is NOT PERMANENT. Normal opening and closing hours will resume on Friday 11th July.
