I have been busy recently with planning planting schemes, this is the favourite part of garden design for me. Researching selecting plants for the right conditions as well as combinations that will work well together, give interest in all seasons. I find it hard to choose between so many wonderful options sometimes! For this garden I am so looking forward to planting as we have been planning for along time and the build it nearly there. Can’t wait to move In with these beauties!!

The start of a new community garden project in the boot of my car!! These plants were saved by volunteers at the Chelsea flower show by Wayward plant volunteers and rehomed to schools and community projects. We collected at the weekend. Inspired by many people and projects over this last 18 months including the Psalm 23 garden at Chelsea encouraging more community gardens to start up. Knowing how gardening is so great for wellbeing and also seeing how much the sacred garden at the front of St. John’s church has been accessed by the community. We are know embarking on bringing a community garden together alongside the community cafe that is launched this week. I will keep you posted as to the developments! Big thank you to wayward plants and .up for making me aware of the project. #@The_RHS@MordenHallPkNT

Salvia uliginosa this morning in my local park! I must of passed it many times. That moment at Chelsea when you spot a plant that really shines out to you and you don’t know it’s name and then see it looking fabulous in Kelsey Park. Swipe to see it used in the Secret Garden and the Parsley Box show gardens.

Some of my favourites. So enjoyed this unique Chelsea Show. A little slice of paradise in Chelsea. The beautiful autumn light and the selection of plants for this time of year was so inspiring. Always wonderful to speak to growers, designers and traders. This year I wasn’t working behind the scenes, so just soaked up all the atmosphere!

A day trip with the family to the Royal Gardens at Buckingham Palace last Friday!! A bit of a treat! We loved the vistas and the Indian Chestnut walk which has smooth shells to the fruits instead of spines. The Tilia cordata small leaves lime was alive with bees. They had a wild meadow, bee hives and are introducing more plants for biodiversity. Had never seen a flower border full of ornamental lillies! Definitely worth a visit!

What a beautiful day to go back to visit this garden that was built and planted back in April. Lovely to see how it was all developing.I am so pleased with how the family are enjoying the space with different places to chill in. There were quite a few things to get into the space including the trampoline but this was screened with grasses and left the family with a good size lawn and plenty of places for plants which was very important for this plants woman and her husband. I’m sure this will be the place to be this weekend.

This garden was planted back in May and today we spent time on the planting and getting the soil enriched with organic compost as a mulch. The planting will really benefit from this, although not normally the time of year to do this as there has been so much rain recently we took advantage. It will also help to suppress weeds and help with maintenance going forward. Getting gardening advice and support for caring for a new garden is an important part of the process. The garden is living thing, adapting and developing it is ongoing.

Really pleased to see this little front garden that we did a design and planting for back in March this year. First 2 pictures sent from the customer and I had to go see for myself yesterday. It is looking a riot of colour. The clients love vibrancy and strong colours so I went brave! I selected flowers for long lasting colour and impact. The owners told me they have passers by take pictures and feedback is that it makes people feel happy. It made my day yesterday.

The planting has really flourished with all the rain in this garden we finished only a few weeks ago. The clients love all the different colours and textures in the space, the crunch on the gravel path, the smooth paving, softness of the plants and the thick lush grass. Great to have such positive feedback. More photos to come as still waiting for the last finishing touches!!

Climbing and rambling roses in my garden after the rain. Still holding up and bringing joy. I love the way they can support themselves through other trees. The 2 ramblers climb up through trees, a Victoria Plum and the other through a magnolia after the flowers have faded. Bringing double the interest!

Irises, have a been beautiful highlight over the last few weeks in this garden planted a year ago. The flowers have been in the blue, better cream and white pallet including: Iris sibirica ‘Silver Edge’ and ‘Butter and Sugar’. Bearded Irises ‘Immortality’, ‘Jane Philips’, ‘Alcazar’, and ‘Blenheim Royal’. The last two irises were given to the garden by 2 ladies from the church so hope we have guessed the varieties correctly! We have so enjoyed their stately show this year.

So great to be sent these before and after shots from a little video the client took of the garden we completed a few weeks ago. The garden is beginning to settle in and get established. We created access to the rear garden for cutting beds and a generous oval lawn. Such a great project for this lovely family who so love their garden. We used millboard decking, porcelain and oak beams with silver gravel paths. So delighted that they love it and can now enjoy for the whole summer. Have a swipe through to see the transformation. garden

Beautiful Brunnera!! it’s in it’s second year of planting in this woodland garden designed by Nina Baxter garden design. This plant is so established now and in the dappled light on Monday, it really shimmered. I learn so much from seeing this garden through the year as I maintain each month. Always something to delight.

So good to revisit this garden that I planted up exactly a year ago. Today the tulips are gleaming in the sunshine at the front of the church. Planted at the base of 2 stone planters through Cornus Midwinter Fire. This is their second showing! So nice to see this communal garden so enjoyed by passers by and people meeting up for outside social distanced chats on the benches !!

This garden design is for a lovely lady who grows flowers for cutting as a business and she knows her plants.!!We have been collaborating together on the planting and I’m so excited for her as this garden will be a beautiful backdrop to her cutting beds which are at the rear of the garden. The build started last week and there are so many plants that she has grown from seed and hundreds of bulbs in pots bursting with life to be planted. A real pleasure to design a garden that will be so loved and enjoyed and much anticipated. Thank you to Prichard and Pritchard for the build and How Green Nursery.

This beautiful Hellebore ’Penny’s Pink’ really shone out in this garden yesterday. It has striking bronze foliage and purple stems and veins and the flowers were standing proud. Situated in 2 feature planters in the middle of a parterre. I maintain this beautiful garden designed by Nina Baxter Garden Design. Always a pleasure to work in this garden. A great outing away from the computer, good for body and soul!

I planted these for the first time last year and was amazed at the scent that fills the house. So decided to plant up again in the autumn and brought into the house after Christmas to bring some beauty after the the decorations came down. However, kept up a few twinkly lights to give us cheer on winter days Paperwhite
