~Colourful clothes for a brighter day~
So it all started a few months ago when I was looking for something a bit different to dress my new baby girl in. It's not that I have anything against pink, it's just that I wanted her to have a colourful life that expresses more of her colourful personality. I remembered that when I was at school many moons ago, I used to love being creative and tie-dying
clothes and this gave me a great idea... all those white baby grows and vests that family & friends had given me (mostly passed down from older children who had outgrown them), could quite easily be turned into something more interesting. So I bought some fabric dyes from my local craft supplier and got to work on dying the clothes (and my hands!). The response from everyone who saw what I had made was so positive that I realised that there might be more people out there like me. People who want bright, fun and colourful clothes to dress their little ones in. I began sourcing lots more second hand plain white clothes through social media and in charity shops in my area and bought more colours of dyes and experimented with more dying patterns and techniques. My partner came home from work one day to find newspaper, elastic bands and plastic bags drying on the washing line outside as I was determined to re-use and recycle as much of the process as possible... I'm pretty sure my neighbours all think I've lost the plot, but it will all make sense once they see my finished pieces! Each one of my designs is totally unique due to the way tie-dying works - you can tie up the clothes and add the dyes in the same way, but each item reacts slightly differently to the dyes that are added and so patterns vary and colours mix in different ways. I now have a whole bunch of recycled eco-friendly clothes for little ones that are not only fun, but many of them have come from charities and so have in some way supported my local community. If you have specific patterns or colours that you would like, please do get in touch with me and we'll see if we can work together to create a personalised item for you and your little one.
