A professional showreel from Carriagehouse is the PERFECT way to secure yourself those gigs you're after. A sharp, sleek look, with studio-quality audio, recorded in a warm, welcoming environment that gives an authentic yet professional representation of your talents to potential clients.
Record full songs, audio and video, and create a showreel highlighting your favourite moments to complete a full portfolio that is the perfect package to send through to those venues you've always wanted to play.
This is exactly what Ellie Stott here did! She's a vocalist/guitarist new to the music scene here in Barnsley and wanting to bring her talents to venues across the borough. She visited the studio not so long ago to create her very own professional showreel to send out to new clients that will now be able to see what she can do at the click of a button, speeding up the booking process and giving herself the best chance by making sure that all-important first impression is as good as it can be.
It was a pleasure to help you create these recordings, Ellie. Good luck with your gigging! 🤝

The Building of Carriagehouse Studio
🛠 || A look back at the genesis of Carriagehouse Studio...
A huge thanks to Joe Beardsall for producing this clip from our recent interview in Carriagehouse that looks back on where it all started for Carriagehouse. It's crazy to think how far this place has come in such a short period of time... only a few months ago, I would have been sat underneath a boiler, staring at at bare walls, freezing cold due to the holes in the wooden doors! 🥶
He gets a mention in the video, but I would still be in that position if weren't for the master craftsman, Alan Bennett, who, through his expertise, hard work, and extensive collection of tools, has made this studio into a reality. Thank you, once again. ❤
Oh, and go give Joe a follow. He's a Barnsley lad on a mission to share all that is good about our town and highlight some of the brilliant people in it. Regular, insightful content that's inspiring and fun to watch in equal measure. Thanks again, Joe, for a brilliant interview and the chance for me to talk about my new venture! 🤝
Va, pensiero (Verdi) - Claire Throssell & Luke Mather
🎭 || "Va, pensiero, sull'ali dorate..."
🌟 Introducing Claire Throssell and Luke Mather... 🌟
It is a delight to present this wonderful recording, courtesy of the always-inspiring Claire Throssell, and featuring a very special guest, her vocal tutor and good friend, Luke Mather. Together they perform "Va, pensiero", also known as the "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves" from the opera 'Nabucco' by Giuseppe Verdi. 🇮🇹
Normally sung as a chorus, this specially arranged performance for two voices and piano is a real treat to bring to you. The session was so much fun, and it was a great priviledge for me to record and accompany two very good friends performing one of Italian opera's very finest moments. ❤
Claire kindly left this review of her experience in Carriagehouse Studio:
"As someone who was told for years not to sing ......to be quiet and never heard or seen, to go to Carriagehouse Studio and record music is an incredible experience. Rob is a producer with integrity and always produces the music that you want to hear. Warm, professional, and approachable Rob ensures that your recording session with him is everything that you hope it to be. Always ready and able to give advice, I totally trust Rob to help me give the best of myself on every recording. To be able to perform and record music is a gift and everlasting because once recorded, it can be kept forever. A living tribute or memory. Rob is an incredibly talented musician able to take a piece of music in any form or genre and create something beautiful and unique. I am very proud and very grateful to Rob for all of the music that he's produced for me. Music is ageless, and music is timeless, but Rob turns it into something that's priceless. And to anyone who reads this review, book your recording session now!" 🤝
Wait A Bit (From 'Just So') - Poppy Whittaker
😔 || "'Wait a bit,' she says, not really knowing what she's waiting for..."
🌟 Introducing the incredible Poppy Whittaker... 🌟
Performing "Wait A Bit" from 'Just So', with a level of maturity and skill that belies her age, is the brilliant Poppy Whittaker. "Wait A Bit" is a wonderful character song, with a gorgeous piano accompaniment, but it requires a real actor's mindset to squeeze every last emotive drop out of the text and music. At just NINE years old, to be performing with this much expression, confidence and ability is just staggering, and so compelling to watch. 🤯
It's been an absolute joy to work with Poppy, and I'm sure we'll be seeing more of her in the very near future! 🤝
The Dark I Know Well (From 'Spring Awakening') - Jess Thompson
🌑 || "There is a part I can't tell about The Dark I Know Well..."
It was brilliant to welcome Jess Thompson into Carriagehouse last year, and it's finally time to share with you her second video from her pro showreel session. ⬇️
This time, Jess performs the song "The Dark I Know Well" from 'Spring Awakening', a song that carries so much emotional weight and demands as much from the actor as it does the vocalist; it's a real challenge to anyone who dares to sing it! But Jess' performance is truly captivating and really shows off a thoroughly complete performer. 👌
Here's what Jess had to say about her time in the studio:
"I went to Carriagehouse Studios to record a vocal showreel. The space was beautiful and I felt very relaxed during the recording process, as it’s a very friendly and professional environment. The end result was incredible and I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a place to record music." 💚
Coming soon... Gemma Parker.
Send A Song For Christmas - David Edwards-Brown
🎼 || "Send A Song For Christmas" by David Edwards-Brown. 🎄
Ever wondered if there was an alternative to sending endless Christmas cards? Well, David Edwards-Brown might just have the answer... 👀
Rather than spending time and money on Christmas cards, wish your loved ones the most wonderful Christmastime this year by sharing with them David's clever, humorous and very merry original song, "Send A Song For Christmas". 🎄
With music, lyrics and video by David, and arrangement/production from Carriagehouse Studio, it's a delight to present this little festive gift for you all! 🎁
On a separate note, many thanks to those who got in touch regarding Vocal Recording Gifts this year. I'm pleased to say that all the slots have been filled, and I look forward to welcoming the recipients into Carriagehouse in 2025! ❤
That just leaves me to wish you all a very merry Christmas, thank you once again for the support shown throughout this transition year, and may we all look ahead into 2025 with excitement for what it may bring! ☺️
And if you've forgotten to include someone on your Christmas card list this year, you know what to do! 👀
Somewhere Over The Rainbow (From 'The Wizard of Oz') - Claire Throssell
❤ || "Somewhere Over The Rainbow, way up high..."
Once again, I am honoured to say that Claire Throssell has entrusted me to help her record two very special songs dedicated to her beloved sons, Jack and Paul. Ten years on from their passing, Claire continues to inspire us all by fighting every day for justice and change in memory of her two boys. Moreover, her will to remember their spirit and bond through music is something that really reminds us of the transformative power of music and that it can really affect the world we live in for the better. And this is the purpose behind these two recordings from Claire; it is a privilege for me to share the second one with you today.
This special acapella version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" requires no introduction from me. Instead, I will let Claire's words say the rest... ❤
A special thank you to Luke Mather for his help with this recording.
I Will Pray For You (Katherine Jenkins) - Claire Throssell

Times Like These (From 'Lucky Stiff') - Jess Thompson
🐶 || "...at times like this, a girl could use a dog."
Here's a video I've been wanting to share with you all for a while... the first of Jess Thompon's videos from her professional showreel session!
The song is called "Times Like This" from the lesser-known musical, 'Lucky Stiff' - look up the plot synopsis if you're unaware of this one - it's worth it, trust me! It's the most beautiful, heart-warming song about the companionship that a dog can give, and is delivered here with such superb characterisation and emotion from Jess that you really do feel every single word of it. ❤
More to come from Jess, I can't wait to show you! 😎
