Finally a three year long stoppage of navigation between Bridge 46 and Five Locks has come to an end. On Monday the 4th October the bunds were lifted and a w**d cutter sent in and after five days of clearing that vegetation some boaters have already made a successful cruise down to the basin. If you are wanting to join them and be apart of this amazing experience to use the southern end again please as you pass the The Open Hearth pub stop and sign the brand new Boaters Book. The new book has been commissioned by the 'Bridge 46 to Five Locks' page after the old one went missing from the Cross Keys pub when it closed down. Whilst there why not sample their great food and real ales.

Thankyou to everyone that was part of getting this section back open again.

If you need a Canal Guide to accompany you with this trip please feel free to head over to the website and fill in a ‘Request a Guide’ form and I’ll be happy to help.

Welcome to the new page for the Mon & Brec Canal Guide now under my ownership. Phil has done a wonderful job in the years he has run the guide and I believe everyone is very pleased that it has stayed true to the original published by John Norris back in 1991. Phil has been a great help in the transition of the guide from him to me and I can not thank him more for that.

I am hoping to publish the first updated edition of the guide in the coming months. If would would like a copy or feel there should be any amendment make please feel free to email, call or send me a private message and I will do my best to accommodate.

I look forward to editing and publishing the guide for the foreseeable future and I hope you are as pleased as I am that it will carry on as John first intended it to. Keep a look out for updates on the page and website for the release date!

I hope we can all get back to cruising our beautiful canal soon but until then stay safe.
