Man! It's been a minute, so much going on while still being stuck indoors. I know I've posted pics of my watch before, it just so happened that I had the challenge to capture details. Whenever I think of details I think of this watch, a gift from my wife.

It's actually quite difficult to capture something with minute detail since the sensor and lenses you use all play a part in capturing the fine lines. Thankfully with the help of my strobe and some post-editing tricks I took as far as I could.

it's not lost on me the references to time in this post. :P

Isolation can be difficult, for me, I have managed to find a lot of peace and comfort. I'm not sure that's 'normal' but I think it's necessary in order to survive mentally through this pandemic. It's not to say that I don't enjoy being around others, but I am comfortable in my own head. I know it's not the same for a lot of people. How do you deal with isolation?

“Cleanse” - I love to shower, saying that out loud feels weird. It’s almost therapeutic in a way as I imagine I’m either getting rid of a (bad/hard) day or starting fresh for a new one. Maybe it’s just me?

While 2020 has been a 💩 🔥 it’s given me an opportunity to really hone my photography skills. Joining different communities and constantly challenging myself.

I'm back in SA for a quick (controlled) visit to see family for the holidays. But first, I'm in self-quarantine and thought it would be nice to get a snap of the lodge guest that I'm in. I haven't seen a pool in a year so this is a welcomed sight!

So my recent photo got picked and this album was truly an honour to be amongst. The topic was 'nature' and the shots the photographers captured were simply incredible.

Tried something a bit different this week. It’s part of the 52 frames challenge, the theme being, circle. Instead of finding something circular I wanted to use the circle as a tool to bring focus. At least that’s what I tell myself.

My approach being, what do I use my phone for taking pictures of? If it's not scenery, selfies or documents then it's of those hard to reach places ;) for self inspection. c'mon you do it too!!

I am pleased to announce that another one of my images was one of the 52 frames selected in last weeks challenge ‘abstract’ with 52Frames.

Again another first time trying this type of editing. And while it might not be something I would continue to do, these challenges have certainly expanded my ability to create.

Abstract is such a broad theme so I took some time to search through references, which oddly took me back to my school days sitting in art class. I think now how valuable those lessons were and all I wanted to do was draw whatever was in my mind but a reference can help with so much.

So you’ll see me on Pinterest a lot more collecting ideas for shoots and creative manipulations.

A new week a new challenge! This week was all about reflections. So I came up with a reflection of moods (working title). I want to portray the everyday 'face' we put on when confronted with the reality of our own well being. It was a fun project I had to incorporate a lot of what I've learnt. BTS Video coming soon :)

Hey Guys!

It's been a while, I've been working on a few things so there is lots in the pipline haha.

I've been learning more and more about beauty re-touching, the photo below is not mine. It's from a free site for practicing purposes.

I've used a few techniques to fix the skin and remove things like the hair clip. Trying to make it all look natural and seemless so you'd never have known it was there if I didn't show you. I also enhanced her eyes a bit to bring focus and played a bit more with the colouring so that it wasn't as intense (personal preference). I hope to be able to do more of this sort of thing in the future, as it's really very rewarding.
