During 2020, JG Outsider, a Spanish producer based in Murcia, officially remixed the song “Phantom Chase” by the Belgian act 80 THE ARCH led by vocalist Gerd Van Geel, in the process JG Outsider will make a cover of the masterful “ribdancer” (1990 Antler Subway) for a Tribute compilation published by the Banshees Records label in 2023. The two experienced musicians then decided to embark on the composition of a complete album in a Dark Synth and New Wave spirit carried by Gerd's extraordinary vocal organ . The result is a brilliant association between the legendary singer of the band little known on this side of the Pyrenees, JG Outsider (whose version of “Lucretia My Reflection » by The Sisters Of Mercy under the name of J.Golo in 2004 left an indelible mark), for a truly great electronic pop album "

FB me rappelle cette chronique forte et sincère (merci au chroniqueur Suisse Shelleyan Brecht) de notre Tribute à Sisters Of Mercy sorti il y a 3 ans ! Avis à la population : il ne nous reste plus qu'une vingtaine d'exemplaires.

"Si vous voulez écouter un album de reprises véritablement intéressant, penchez-vous plutôt sur le deuxième volet des Honoris du label Unknown Pleasures Records dédié aux Sœurs. Pedro Peñas y Robles ne compte pas que des amis, son attitude déterminée, intransigeante parfois, son besoin de contrôle déplait à certain(e)s. Chacun(e) est libre de son avis, en attendant l’homme est exigeant, professionnel, cohérent dans sa démarche volontairement alternative, et souhaite pour son label des critères de qualité très élevés à tous niveaux (musique, visuel…), on peut donc y aller avec confiance quand il se risque aux exercices périlleux que sont les compilations hommage. La sélection est rigoureuse, implacable et le résultat à la hauteur. Les Sisters of Mercy ont si souvent été copiés, plagiés, repris, qu’on en vient à se demander qui pourrait apporter de l’eau supplémentaire au moulin. Ne cherchez plus. Ecoutez la splendide reprise rock sombre de ‘Some kind of stranger’ par O***m Dream Estate ou l’efficace version électronique post-Giorgio Moroder de ‘Body electric’ par Chris Shape et vous tiendrez la réponse. Il y en a qui doutent au fond de la salle ? ‘Inondations’ de Maman Küsters (en bonus fantôme) vous convaincra par son hallucinante réappropriation de ‘Flood’ en français; c’est à tomber par terre (ou à la flotte) et à prendre quasiment comme une compo personnelle. Bien entendu, certaines formations présentes s’approchent davantage du son des Soeurs de Charité, ainsi Delphine Coma, Deathrippers ou A Wedding Anniversary; aucune pourtant ne délivrera un vain plagiat. L’interprétation de ‘Giving Ground’, par exemple, moins étouffée que l’originale permet de toucher à l’intimité du titre de manière profonde. ‘On the wire’ est l’une de mes chansons favorites des Anglais et voilà que Swesor Bhrater le transforme en cold wave larmoyante ! Croyez-moi, elle est méconnaissable et même s’il m’a fallu un délai, je ne peux qu’être admiratif de cette personnalisation audacieuse. Très beau ‘Flood II’ par Sebastian Faits Divers et HIV+ aux orchestrations claire, légèrement saupoudrées de néoclassique et d’electro, respectant l’atmosphère nocturne de l’originale en la restituant non au bord de la mer mais dans une vallée de montagne. Réussite également pour Year of Denial avec chant féminin pour 'Poison door' apportant un nouvel éclairage dark wave à cette chanson énigmatique. Était-il nécessaire de faire durer ‘Colours’ neuf minutes ? Pas certains mais The Raudrive s’en sortent en travaillant habilement les climats, mettant en valeur les lignes originelles du morceau. Car l’autre point intéressant dans la démarche est d’avoir inclus The Sisterhood dans la palette de choix des reprises permettant ainsi une lecture nouvelle de quelques compositions connues ou non dudit projet. Du très haut niveau donc (peut-être même le meilleur hommage à ce jour) et une mise à jour neuve, originale, surprenante de la musique d’une formation tellement culte qu’il n’est nul besoin de le rappeler."

In December 1991, during a final trip to the clubs of Valencia'area (Spain), I discovered this essential hit by the Belgian band The Arch "Ribdancer"! 33 years later I have the immense pleasure of announcing at Unknown Pleasures Records the upcoming release of the album "Pornographic Shadows", a great electro-new wave project by singer Gerd Van Geel combined with the excellent Spanish producer JG Outsider (himself from my native region of Murcia) under the name BELLA ETERNA.

Je suis heureux d'annoncer pour cet été chez Unknown Pleasures Records la sortie CD en édition limitée d'une superbe compilation rétrospective de mon duo dark folk français préféré : SWESOR BHRATER, ce brillant projet toulousain qui fut fondé en 2014 par Victor-Yann Gand (frère d'Alexandre Gand du Syndicat Électronique et d'Invasion Planète Recordings avec qui il jouait déjà sous le nom de Bruta Non Calculant) généralement classifié comme Neo-Folk/Dark Psychédélique par la critique et soutenu fidèlement par une solide base de fans en Europe. Parues auparavant uniquement en éditions vinyles très rares et aujourd'hui épuisées, j'ai choisi de proposer en Compact Disc remastérisés leurs plus belles compositions ritualistes profondément inspirées par la mystique des anciens dieux. Ce remarquable duo méritait de sortir de l'ombre des bois obscurs pour diffuser la lumière de sa propre créativité aux yeux d'un monde ébahi.

Previously published only in very rare and sold out vinyl editions, I have chosen to offer on remastered Compact Disc their most beautiful ritualistic compositions deeply inspired by a mysticism of ancient gods. This remarkable project deserved to come out of the shadows of the dark woods to spread the light of their own creativity to an amazed world.

In December 1991, during my last musical trip in the clubs of Valencia (Spain) I discovered this awesome dancefloor hit by the Belgian act The Arch ! 33 years later I have the great pleasure of announcing at our label the upcoming release of the album "Pornographic Shadows", a marvellous electro-new wave project by cult singer Gerd Van Geel combined with the excellent Spanish producer JG Outsider (himself from my native region of Murcia).
The album will be mastered by Eric Van Wonterghem and is announced for the end of the year, but I can already say that it sounds magnificent from start to finish and will fill all fans of the track below with joy. More info, clips, and first extract soon.
