🥰More good news from one of our former guests, now happily living his best life in his new home:

Hi there - Just a quick message to let you know how Gilly ( formerly Gruff ) is doing.
He is a different dog to the one you met. We do little bits of training each day, but only a few minute sessions. He is now in a position I am happy with — meaning he is not looking to do anything that is a danger to himself (car chasing).
He interacts extremely well and very friendly with other dogs and people, while at the same time giving a good bark at dogs/people passing by the house when he is watching from the porch.
He is also now a swimmer (a fairly new development). We have often been to places with water from the start, but it has been just paddling. A couple of weeks back we had a good session at a lake and he took the swimming plunge. With this hot weather, our morning walk has been ok, but the middle walk has been off for a swimming trip, so he learned at a good time otherwise it would have probably been too hot for him to go out.
We have had an adventure to the vets when he got a bit of stick in his eye. It came out at home, but his eye was red for a while and I worried about him so a vet trip was made, he handled it in good spirits, no fear or any worries. Some eye drops for a week and it cleared up fine.
Anyway, I thought I would write and let you know how he is doing.
Steve
(I've included a picture of him making a splash).

Happy 18th Birthday Amber!

🥰 We've just received this wonderful message - just goes to show that adopting an older dog can be so rewarding 🥰

Greetings, we adopted Amber from you 12 years ago, today we are celebrating her 18th birthday. Although she takes things at a slower pace she still enjoys being with her chickens and helping out where she can.

Hello Ellie

🐾 Meet the Team Monday 🐾

Hi everyone! I’m Ellie — and here are my two dogs, Lulu (the cheeky photo bomber!) and Pebbles 💕

I’ve been with BCTGB since 2017… 8 years already — where has the time gone?!

I help manage all the finances for the centre, working in the office alongside Ben and Juliet. It’s such a lovely job — I get to see first-hand just how dedicated and hardworking our team is in caring for the dogs (and let’s not forget the cats!).

The cats live at the centre to help our rescue dogs integrate — so if you already have cats at home, this really helps with the transition process.

A huge thank you to all our amazing staff and volunteers for your tireless dedication. You make a real difference every day 💛

Whether you have your own pets or simply just love animals this is the magazine for you!

Rescue and Animal CARE Magazine has been established for over 13 years. The concept of the title came to our publisher Jennifer Prowse when she read a sorry tale in a newspaper about a dog thrown out of a van on a dual carriageway, just because its owner decided it was too much to handle.

The more she investigated the heart-breaking world of unwanted, badly treated animals and the amazing work carried out by Pet Charities she decided to provide a free window for rescue centres to feature animals needing new homes. Aside from featuring Re homing articles, the importance of Responsible Pet Ownership, including all areas, from Nutrition to Pet Behaviour was an obvious subject to also cover.

Each month, Jennifer and her team bring a thought provoking and interesting read to thousands of Pet loving readers all over the UK. We publish glossy hard copy and online in our informative, interesting and interactive website. We provide an excellent advertising vehicle for any pet business so jump on board!
