🔸 Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) supplemental type certification to install Starlink high-speed internet on the G650 and G650ER. “Starlink is an offering that we know is important to operators,” said Derek Zimmerman, president, Gulfstream Customer Support. “Our team has invested extensive time and resources preparing for this certification, and we are well-positioned across our service network to provide a seamless installation. 🔹 F. LIST GMBH, a pioneer in innovative cabin solutions, and Pilatus Aircraft Ltd are showcasing a Pilatus PC-24 Super Versatile Jet cabin cross-section at this year’s NBAA-BACE 2024 to highlight the potential for using sustainable materials in aircraft interiors. Located on the Pilatus static exhibit, the intricate mock-up features existing F/LAB bio-based materials alongside the latest addition to the portfolio, the new plant-based F/LAB Natural Oil varnish, as Pilatus emphasizes the importance of sustainability within the cabin.

🔹 The transparent F/LAB Natural Oil minimizes the release of harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the environment while enhancing the grain and beauty of wood veneers. A subtle matt sheen and tactile finish highlight the natural patterns and whorls of the surface. The oil finish is engineered for durability with scratch and stain-resistant qualities, enabling regular usage with minimal maintenance.

🔹 Jet Aviation has redelivered a pair of identical Boeing Business Jets 737-8s to an undisclosed customer. The interiors were completed in less than ten months, the shortest downtime the completion center has achieved for two simultaneous aircraft.

🔹 “Less than ten months from arrival to certification and redelivery is an incredible achievement, especially for two cabins of this complexity,” says Christoph Fondalinski, vice president Completions. “Our in-house teams worked hand-in-hand with the customer to understand their specialized requirements and craft interiors that met these through a combination of state-of-the-art engineering and innovative production techniques. The result was our shortest downtime for two simultaneous aircraft to date and is further testament to our ongoing pursuit of industry-leading efficiency, service, and quality.”

🔹 Jet Aviation offers completion for all types of narrow- and wide-body aircraft at its facility in Basel. The completion center has in-house, on-site capabilities for almost all aspects of the completion process including design, engineering, production, installation, and certification. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics with some 4,000 employees and 50 locations worldwide. Jet Aviation’s offerings include aircraft management, aircraft sales, charter, completions, defence, FBO, maintenance and staffing.

🔺 Lufthansa Technik had a mixed economic picture after the first half of the year. While the global market leader in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) once again achieved a record result for the period from January to the end of June thanks to a very strong second quarter, the company is also experiencing the strong pressure on the aviation industry as a whole. After the first half of 2024, earnings now amount to 319 million euros. Lufthansa Technik saw a further 9.6 percent increase compared to the previous record figure of 291 million euros from the previous year – despite the strike costs that significantly impacted the first quarter. Revenue at the end of June amounted to 3.6 billion euros (previous year: 3.1 billion euros, +16.5%). The adjusted EBIT margin dropped accordingly, from 9.3% to 8.8%. This trend must be reversed in order to achieve the goal of the “Ambition 2030” corporate strategy, namely a sustained double-digit margin.

🔺 Digital activities are also developing very well with regard to the expansion of the product portfolio, customer base and revenue. The AMOS software developed by Lufthansa Technik subsidiary Swiss-AS is used extensively by airlines around the world – and those who are not yet using AMOS are still very interested in it. AVIATAR, the platform for airline operations with a wide range of digital products and services, is also continuing its positive trend. There is also good news on the recruitment front: the recruitment measures continue to be effective. By the end of June, the number of employees was over 23,400, compared to 21,500 at the same time last year. Lufthansa Technik remains strongly committed to promoting young talent. In early August, more than 300 young people will begin their training at the German locations.
