Waiting For Words Relives an 80s Classic: "Smalltown Boy" Live in Paris

The electronic group Waiting For Words has revealed on its YouTube channel an audiovisual legacy: the video of the live act recorded on September 15, 2023 at Petit Bain in Paris. On this occasion, the band offers its own interpretation of one of the most emblematic anthems of the 80s, "Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat.

It's an incredible honor to welcome in the Foundry Records Team the ultra talented band FATHERLESS CHILD, consisting of Nicolas Lannoy & Guillaume Matthys
Their 2nd album, "EN MODE AUTOMATIQUE" has been mixed and mastered by our in-house talent Peter Rainman and will be released both on digital platforms AND CD by Foundry Records next week.

On a personal point of view, it's a real pride as we are listening to Fatherless Child remixes of Depeche Mode, Recoil and many more (recently Weird Wolves to name a few) since 20 years and they remixed WAITING FOR WORDS back in 2006 with an incredible version of "Waiting For You" and just did 2 great versions of "My Dignity" for WFW’ new EP.
We've always considered Fatherless Child as part of the TOP 5 remixers of Depeche Mode in the world along with Kernfusion (aka Do******ix), Island, From Beyond, JFLash... delivering most of the times some remixes of a higher quality than the official ones, and being part of the true Alan Wilder’s spiritual sons.

This release will showcase now their talent as songwriters and producers of their own material.

The result is a great collection of songs, a coherent album we are proud to present you.

The album is available on Foundry Records’ Bandcamp in CD and Digital + all digital platforms worldwide.

Ils devaient jouer le 6 mai à Petit Bain, mais mieux vaut parfois reculer pour mieux sauter. Un problème de santé affectant le chanteur d'And One (infection des lèvres) oblige au report de la date initialement prévue ce 6 mai (aujourd'hui, oui) au 15 septembre 2023. Les tickets pris pour le 6 mai restent valables pour la date reprogramme à la rentrée.

PRESS RELEASE - A Sad Day... Foundry Records gives up on the fight against Spotify (and the others)

After years of standing in our boots firmly against Spotify and other platforms, it appears this battle (not the war!) is now totally lost and it becomes incredibly difficult to carry on as it is now a clear block against the development of artists not be on it.

1/ More and more radio and webradios directly plug their playlist to Spotify. If you're not there, you're not broadcasted

2/ More and more bars, pubs, venue concerts... broadcast Spotify playlists.If you're not there, you're not broadcasted

3/ TikTok and Instagram videos - if you wanna use an artist track - are plugged on Spotify. If you're not there, you're not broadcasted used.

4/ Many artists such as Nicola Sirkis, Iggy Pop, Simon Le Bon.. post some regular Spotify playlists with indie artists. If you're not there, you won't appear.

5/ Foundry Records - and therefore, our artists- revenues had dramatically fall down other the last 4 years. When we were able to generate at least 100€ per quarter - which was already a drastic fall down compared to pre-2012 - allowing to finance some Facebook adds, printing promo flyers, administrative costs for Foundry and so on.... within the last 3 quarters, we hardly come to a cumulated revenue of 80€.

Therefore, it's my responsibility as a label manager, for the interest of everyone, from now on to release our catalogue on ALL platforms.

Believe me when I say it truly hurts my heart, soul, guts and most of all, values and everything I stand for since 1990.

But there will be other ways to carry on the Indie Fight.
