New mix for NTS radio

Playing Acid, Ambient, Leftfield House. Sounds for the height of the summer heat from Versatile Records bossman Gilb’R, selecting forthcoming tracks from the label, and original productions.

Our good friends at Spectrum Films have asked us to revisit two great Asian movies: the classic "Millennium Mambo" for Gilb'R, and "Shin Godzilla" for I:Cube
Cube delivers a unique fusion of deep, atmospheric sounds, blending the minimalism of Basic Channel with the intensity of early UK Bass. Meanwhile, Gilb'R delves into dreamy electronica, reminiscent of Seefeel and early Warp records.
For now, these tracks are available digitally and on Bandcamp only. They will be released on all platforms at the end of August.

Mange,this toxic trippy track could really flip your mind when played on an heavy sound-system in the heat of the night (club).
Slow minimal mental build up,then the mamouth kik comes in…after,i just don’t remember..

As I am sorting a lot of old things, I bumped on that cdr.
When we started the label in 1996,Disco Cubizm was a huge hit, and we immediately got contacted by for a record deal for I:Cube.
I remember exactly steppin in the office of the then boss,Emmanuel De Buretel and play him and his team those 3 tunes..
Including a wicked Techno track with some Spanish lesson over it..
They looked at us as if we were helter skelters and we never ever heard of them 😂

Until that day we remain 100 % indie and had been working only for the sick of art.
I’m pretty sure those 3 tracks still stands today.

Another killer release from the master of the abstract.
A few words by I:Cube.
I've always been collecting records—for the pure essence of music, of course, as a sound source for sampling, for my DJ sets in various clubs, and, not to forget, for the weird and captivating album covers.
During my teenage years, I had a unique Saturday tradition. I would explore Parisian public libraries in search of unknown records to feed my sampler.
Records were expensive, and without the internet, apart from the radio, this was my way of discovering new music and refining my musical taste.

Fast forward more than three decades, a serendipitous encounter took place with Damien Poncet, a cultural mediator who works at the Médiathèque Musicale de Paris. This remarkable institution boasts an impressive collection of over 100,000 records.
Following an extensive conversation, a captivating idea emerged: to craft a musical composition using samples from this vast vinyl archive.
The grand stage selected for this daring concert? None other than the iconic Forum des Halles, located in the heart of a historic Parisian district. Once renowned as Paris' largest food market, bearing the moniker "le ventre de Paris," the Forum des Halles underwent a transformation into a massive shopping center in the early 1980s.

Performing this diverse and otherworldly musical blend live at the very core of this consumer paradise was also an immense source of enjoyment and highly surreal.
The concert was open to all, inviting anyone passing by to join in and listen.
This project was a golden opportunity to pay tribute to Paris's public libraries in a place rich with history and full of personal memories.

Many thanks to Damien Poncet and the entire team at the Médiathèque Musicale de Paris. Additionally, I want to express my gratitude to Géraldine Hervé-Dannhauer, Mehdi Herzberg, Stéphane Laporte, Patrick Santos, and all the students from the Ecole Estienne in Paris, who contributed to the visual performance inspired by a selection of record covers during the show.

Since a couple of years,I:Cube makes music with his son Milo and both have a lot of fun experimenting in the Victor studio.
Here is one of their numerous jams,made 2 days ago.
Versatile will release an album from them in 2024.

Second release of our monthly digital installment.Gilb is contributing this time with a moody slow roller.
This track,was improvised in his Pijp studio( Amsterdam) while rehearsing a live.
Hexo was composed using the sounds which were there at that moment, recorded live on 2 tracks and presented now to you.
For now, it’s available on Bandcamp only, but will be very soon on all those things called platforms soon.
