今日排灯节 斐济各地燃灯庆祝 全球同庆 大家的庆祝方式都不太一样呢

Diwali in Fiji begins from November 1 sees people from all walks of life showing victory of light over darkness.

Diwali is a festival of lights that symbolizes the importance of moral values and spiritual growth.

The festival lasts for five days and includes various rituals, prayers, and celebrations.

The tradition of eating sweets is significant, especially during Diwali as they stand for happiness, love, and the joy of sharing.

Diwali Fireworks Only Allowed From 5pm To 12am on November 1.

Diwali is a Hindu festival celebrated by millions around the world.

Diwali is an amazing time to visit India. Light is a vital part of the celebrations – the landscape is illuminated by millions of lanterns, diyas (oil or ghee lamps), candles and firecrackers, symbolizing the light used to guide Rama home to Ayodhya.

In Malaysia, where Diwali is celebrated as a public holiday, it is known as “Hari Diwali” or “Green Diwali”.

Singapore also embraces Diwali in a major way. For the main event, the Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (Lisha) organizes cultural programs, walks and tours to spread the message of the festival, alongside cooking demos, a treasure hunt, special Big Bus tours, workshops and the construction of a bustling, stall-filled Deepavali Festival Village.

In the United States, Diwali is growing in prominence, with several states now recognizing it officially. Celebrations are hosted in cities with large Indian communities, such as New York, San Francisco, and Houston, with the lighting of lamps, fireworks displays, and cultural performances that draw significant crowds.

Trafalgar Square in London hosts one of Europe's biggest Diwali celebrations. The 2024 celebrations will include performances of Garba, Bhangra, Odissi, Lavani and other Indian dance styles.

Tahiti retains OFC Beach Soccer Men’s Nations Cup title

Tahiti’s Tiki Toa have retained their OFC Beach Soccer Men’s Nations Cup title with a dramatic 3-2 win over the Solomon Islands in front of a passionate capacity crowd in Honiara.

Teva Zaveroni’s side will travel to the Seychelles next year for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup™ after having to dig deep to deny an inspired home side. It’s a shame after a sporting contest like this there has to be a loser, and both sides played like gladiators to produce a world class beach soccer final.

There was a frenetic start to the match with both teams playing with such intensity that genuine openings were few and far between.

Earlier, it took something special to stun the raucous home crowd into silence after a goalless first period and it was delivered by Terorotua with a thunderbolt freekick in the 16th minute.

Ro’onui Tinirauarii stepped up with a trademark bicycle kick goal to restore the defending champions lead a couple of minutes before the end of the second period.

The third period had barely started when the hosts were level courtesy of some wonderful football, and a stinging left foot shot from Erick Wanega.

The winner came courtesy of a super strike by Heimanu Terorotua, his second of the match, midway through the final period.

逛故宫、登长城、坐电车 巴新员工直言:中国之行太了不起了!

The trip to China was an amazing experience for Registered Manager in Ramu NiCo’s Kurumbukari Mine Joseph Umare.

First glimpse of China when the plane Umare travelled touched on the soil of China, Umare was amazed on the revelation of what’s before him.

The cleanliness of the environment, the tall buildings all neatly decorated reflected the technology that China has for the world.

It gave him a new perspective of China and what China can offer to the world, amazingly China has preserved its history over thousands of years.

“I thank Ramu NiCo for this opportunity of a lifetime which I was able to visit the following unique places such as Beijing Olympic Park, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Museum, Forbidden City and Great Wall,” Umare said.

When stepping out of the Forbidden City Umare and his colleagues entered the modern China as it is today with fast cars, huge sky scrapers and busy traffic movement.

It’s an incredible atmosphere and furthermore, climbing the Great Wall of China was an experience he will treasure for a life time. Umare hopes to visit the ancient structure again in the future.

According to Umare, most developed economies around the world have emphasised about electric vehicles but China has taken a big leap in that space, just about every second vehicle in Beijing is an electric vehicle.

While China is leading the way with electric vehicles it is also making significant progress in the Artificial Intelligent (AI) space by teaching it as a subject in colleges and universities. China is really moving at a very fast pace and we should learn from them.

Meanwhile, the 2024 China Copper Cup gave him and other co-workers from Ramu NiCo an opportunity to interact with participating teams from around the world. It was their first time attending this competition and they were ranked third among other competitors

He thanked Ramu NiCo for this great opportunity to visit China and participated in 2024 China Copper Cup, which also gave his colleagues an opportunity to interact with colleagues from other mines around the world.

He said China is a beautiful country and has been rapidly developing over the last 40 years and has some of best historically sites that has been preserved over thousands of years.

💥❗️❗️❗️HORABLE💥❗️❗️❗️
Papua New Guinea bus shooting causing massive DEATH😟😟😟

Papua New Guinea police say 10 people have been tragically killed after a series of violent "revenge killings" along the Laiagam-Sirunki Highway in Enga Province.

The attacks, which occured on last Friday and Monday, are believed to be connected to an unresolved death that took place in March earlier this year.

Police said that gunmen from the Mulapin tribe ambushed a vehicle packed with passengers from the Sakare clan near Tambitanis Health Centre in Sirunki on 11 October at 8am.

The vehicle, carrying a body, was fired upon in a surprise attack. A woman lost her life, several others sustained serious injuries, and the gunmen escaped.

An hour later on the same day, the Sakare clan retaliated by shooting the driver and his passenger from close range. They reached a nearby hospital but succumbed to their injuries on arrival.

The leadership of the Kunalin and Lyain tribes is urging restraint and for the clans not to resort to violence, police said.

They have also called for the immediate surrender of suspects from both the Mulapin and Sakare tribes to law enforcement.

Assistant Police Commissioner Joseph Tondop, who is responsible for the state of emergency in Enga, is calling for an investigation into the root causes of the recent conflict

"This sort of revenge killing is unheard of in the history of tribal conflicts is Enga Province where innocent people unrelated to the conflicts where killed," he said.

"All tribal clans taking part in the conflicts (Sakars, Mulapian, Kunalins, Myom and people form Kulapi 4 in Porgera) are all under the scope and ordered to refrain from further escalating the situation."

The investigative teams will start their work immediately, and individuals or groups found to be involved will be apprehended, he said.

"This task force is given strict orders to carry out a thorough investigation, leaving no stone unturned."

RNZ Pacific's correspondent in PNG said word on the ground is that the public is frustrated police are yet to make arrests.

He said police find it difficult to go and deal with the clans and arrest people that are armed.

Waide said people are reluctant to give up weapons because it gives them a sense of security in tribal conflicts.

"It is a difficult situation that both lawmakers, citizens and police are in. The longer this drags on and guns are in the hands of ordinary people, killing will continue."

Rugby, hockey and cricket cut from streamlined 2026 Commonwealth Games🏈🏒🏉

The global rugby community has led a chorus of disappointment after 12 sports were shunted from the 2026 Commonwealth Games, following the announcement of the program for the streamlined event to be held in Glasgow.

Rugby sevens, hockey and cricket were the highest-profile sports to be axed as part of Glasgow’s 11th-hour offering to help salvage the Commonwealth Games, prompted by last year’s withdrawal of Victoria as host.

In addition to core sports athletics and swimming, 3×3 basketball, artistic gymnastics, boxing, judo, lawn bowls, netball, track cycling and weightlifting will be part of the event.

Victoria held the rights to host the 2026 event but withdrew last year, triggering negotiations with the Commonwealth Games Federation and ultimately leaving the state with a bill of $589m (US$390 billion).

Glasgow stepped in this year to host a stripped-down version of the event, saving what started in 1930 as the British Empire Games.

Rather than a traditional athletes village, participants in 2026 will stay in pre-existing accommodation. Venues for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in the city will be re-used: athletics at Scotstoun Stadium, swimming at Tollcross, track cycling at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome, and indoor sports will be hosted at the SEC.

Badminton, beach volleyball, diving, non-track cycling, rhythmic gymnastics, squash and table tennis have also been culled.

Get on the tractor! Solomon Malaita Province receives China's "big gift package" for agricultural assistance

The Huai’an City of China’s Jiangsu’s Province has gifted crucial equipment to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL) and Malaita Province.

The equipment, which included rice transplanters, rotary tillers, tractors, digital greenhouse equipment, rice milling machines, water and sewage pumps and agricultural sprayers, computers and digital monitoring equipment, are expected to help boost operational management and technological development within MAL and further enhance its capacity to serve the agricultural sector and also Malaita Province in developing its agricultural infrastructure.

It was officiated by the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Solomon Islands, Cai Weiming, Minister for Agriculture and Livestock, Derek Wasi, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Deputy Secretary Simon Baete, Malaita Provincial Premier Elijah Asilaua and Malaita Provincial Secretary Eric George.

Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Cai said the handing over ceremony was not only the implementation of the outcome of the Jiangsu Provincial Government delegation’s visit to Solomon Islands three months ago but overall, a manifestation of the cooperation and friendship between China and Solomon Islands.

He said these donated items also include material for Malaita Province, which are provided under the three-year cooperation plan it signed with China’s Jiangsu Province. The cooperation was signed with the Malaita Provincial Government by a visiting delegation from the Chinese province three months ago.

Ambassador Cai said as a genuine friend and close brother to Solomon Islands, China is willing to share not only its agricultural experience and technology but also its agricultural market.

In his speech, MAL Minister Wasi hailed the assistance, saying the government and people of Solomon Islands are deeply grateful to the government and people of Huai’an City for recognizing the importance of strengthening Solomon Islands agricultural infrastructure.

He said these donations are more than just a transfer of tools but an investment in the shared vision of sustainable development, food security and poverty alleviation.

Minister Wasi stated that these donations are a testament to the enduring friendship and cooperative spirit between China and Solomon Islands.

“The tools we are receiving today such as rice trans-planters, rotary tillers, tractors, digital greenhouse equipment and more will significantly bolster our local agricultural capacity, modernize our [farming] practices and ultimately improve our livelihoods of our farmers and communities.

“In particular, the rice milling machines, water and sewage pumps, and agricultural sprayers will directly contribute to enhancing food security and production efficiency.”

Furthermore, Minister Wasi said the provision of computers and digital monitoring equipment will support both operational management and technological development within MAL and further enhance its capacity to serve the agricultural sector.

Premier Elijah Asilaua, in turn, expressed acknowledgement on behalf of the people of Malaita Province for the assistance from a city of the province’s Chinese Sister Province.

He said the donated tractors, farming management equipment, office computers and their accessories together with material to beautify the Auki township are a positive outcome of the friendship between Malaita and Jiangsu.

Premier Asilaua said these assistances are the second stream of donations to Malaita from Jiangsu under their Sister Relationship and the existing cordial diplomatic relations between Solomon Islands and China.

Located in the center of north Jiangsu Province, Huai´an is an important city along the Grand Canal, a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage property.

Huai´an holds an important place as the origin of Huaiyang Cuisine, one of the four major traditional cuisines in China.

22/10/2024

China Airlines, one of Taiwan’s largest carriers, will resume its Taipei-Guam service from 27 November to 02 February 2025, with two weekly flights.

According to CAL, it will use an Airbus A321neo aircraft to operate the service between the two destinations.

Chia Ping Liu, director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Guam, confirmed China’s Airlines’ resumption of the route during the Taiwan National Day reception on 15 October.

“Taiwan has long been the major source of tourists for Guam. Before Covid, according to one visitor’s viewer data, Taiwan tourists were also the top vendors in Guam’s physical markets, which prepared an on-island expenditure reaching more than US$2,000,” Chia said.

“Over the years, tourism, trade and investment have been growing.

Many Taiwanese businesses have invested in Guam, and in recent years, our partnership has further advanced in the field, such as education, culture, medical care, and so on,” Chia said. “I’m sure we can do more to deepen our ties and find new relationship opportunities.

Air service between Taipei and Guam ceased during the pandemic.

Chia said that when he first came to Guam, local leaders had discussed with him the importance of restoring direct flights between Taiwan and Guam to recover Guam’s tourism. “Since then, our office in Guam has kept recommending the headquarter to assist in the resumption of direct flight between Taiwan and Guam and hopefully further extend to Saipan,” he added.

CAUTION! SEVERE FLOODS IN TONGA

Today, forecasters warned that a second line of squally weather will pass over southern Tonga this afternoon and tonight, bringing more rainfall. A gale warning remains in force for Ha’apai, Tongatapu and ‘Eua, with a heavy rain warning and flash flood advisory for all of Tonga land areas tonight.

Severe flooding in Nuku’alofa inundated roads this morning after overnight storms, with gale force winds and exceptional rainfall, toppled trees and brought down power lines on Tongatapu.

Tongatapu has received over two and a half times its average monthly rainfall for the whole month of October. Many areas of Nuku’alofa were flooded and affected families were being moved to evacuation centres on higher ground.

Tonga Power was working to secure power lines that had been brought down by falling trees in several places.

The National Emergency Management Office (NEMO Tonga) urged drivers to avoid using Bypass Road in Nuku’alofa.

“We urge the public to avoid using Bypass Road, as it is currently experiencing severe flooding. Due to the rising water level, many vehicles have stalled, and engines have been affected. For your safety, please take alternative routes and avoid walking or driving through this area. Your safety is our priority. Please stay alert and take necessary precautions,” NEMO stated on its FB page.

NEMO warned the public to avoid affected areas and advised flooded homes to, “Seek your district or town officers for evacuation centers if you and your family critically need to move from flood.”

Weather alerts will be posted at https://www.facebook.com/tongametservice
