BINAGOL is a delicacy made from talyan - a root crop species like gabi or taro. Mixed with eggs, coconut milk, sugar, butter, and peanuts, the dish is steam-cooked inside a “bagol” or polished coconut shell and wrapped in using banana leaves and tied in place with strings. A soft talyan cake filled with sweet latik (coconut jam) will surely delight one’s sweet tooth.

| Eastern Visayas has a wide array of native delicacies made from rice, glutinous rice, cassava, sweet potato, and banana. And perhaps, the most iconic among all these is the Binagol.
