1. Spray bottle - Definitely for fake sweat if you want to have a real beaten-up athletic look.
2. and a real enthusiastic videographer who will sacrifice himself for the sake of a great video (This is a real spoiler for the ending).

I know the title might seem controversial (or click-bait in some opinions) but I want to be myself and be 100% honest.

Congratulate people on their failures is what I do and it's not a sarcastic act.

There's a lot of content about not giving up too early. The gold miner image is one example (at least for me), or nowadays people share their glamorous life on social media with caption "Coming from the bottom now we're here". Still, there's a lot of people who don't even care to try.

That's why people who tried is different. They set themselves apart from the pack. They failed, and got up, and failed again, and got up again. It takes lots of courage to do that. It's not easy.

That's why I appreciate every single failures of mine, my friends, and you. Your failure doesn't drag you drown. It builds you up a warrior, stronger and better.

And that's how this controversial title was born.

As a marketer, running and chasing KPIs are not uncommon. I could even say it's considered "normal". Unsurprisingly, I immediately saw myself trapped in the creator dilemma. It's a vicious cycle, where I create materials only to satisfy the boards, and the short-term KPIs.

Just remember, growth is a marathon, not a sprint. It's a journey, not a shortcut.

The word "cinematographer" might not ring a bell to many of you. What about "videographer"? More familiar, right?

I can say that differentiating these two terms is one of the most difficult tasks on earth.

How hard can it be?

Only one difference: Sympathy versus Capability.

📸 Videographers show the capability of controlling the whole show from pre- to post-production. They share captivating moments with their audience using motions.

🎥 Cinematographers look for sympathy. They seek connection with the audience. As you understand, a relationship using motions is not something you can build alone.

Both types exploit videos. The biggest similarity about them is the passion and competency to spread meaningful messages using that powerful tool.

Weird right? What does it mean to not bring products to the customers?

Modern marketing and advertising have pointed out that doing marketing is 100% not about the brand, but its customers.

That's why you think like a strategist, but have to communicate in the language of the people.

Nowadays, you can no longer bring the product to the consumer. I mean you can, but let's remember 2 things:

🤓 The customers define and decide their shopping experience. You can bring products to them, but sales? What ensures?

🤓 With all the digital sources and social media platforms, bringing the product is no longer the most efficient way to prosperity and growth

There is one siginificant figure understood this principle (that many of us till now are still struggling. Unfair !) since 1987.

With audiences at the heart of their operations, they bring the customers to their product, not the other way around.

❌ Underestimate talent scouting.

How to fix that?

Let’s take a trip down memory lane. What was the last time you shared a video with your friends? What made you share that specific video with your network?

Is it because:

❓It relates to you or your friends. You can vividly see you or them in the video.

❓You laugh your heart out. You and your friends have pretty good fun about it.

❓Someone from your network shares the video with you. And you start sharing it too, because it’s from “that one friend”.

Recently we’re starting to do workshops on how to produce the first professional video with no budget. Most of the participants are totally beginners or entry level, and it’s hard to force them to plan, shoot and edit their footage right after the workshop. That’s when stock videos comfortably came in.

Why? It’s good for practicing. They can exercise their planning and editing skills, at the same time see how a proper and beautiful footage was shot and made. What a good point to start with!

Chroma key involves filming actors and objects in front of a flat screen of a single colour. This screen is usually blue or green, hence chroma key is often referred to as a 'blue screen' or 'green screen' effect. During editing, computer programs are used to remove and replace parts of the footage.

That’s the technique involved with the screens. We mostly hear about green screens. We see them so often in and Hollywood movie production, but not blue greens. What’s the difference? Which is more superior?

Wind noise is unarguably one of the most annoying things when it comes to outdoor filming.

There are many things help reducing wind noise you might have seen on TV, or the from other production teams, for example “deadcats” and shotgun mic’s windshield. Of course there are many things, but the number one fighter in our heart is lavalier mic.

Using the human body as the natural windshield and wire hideout, lavalier mic is definitely the go-to solution when it comes to better audio and wind noise ultimate battle. Plus it’s affordable, multipurposes and easy-to-use. What more do I have to compliment?
