WILL TIGRAY SPIN BACK TO TPLF?

TPLF’s mistake after the war with Derg was that TPLF was formed by the people of Tigray, so after the victory on Derg, TPLF should’ve stayed as a transitional government or as a military force. Being junta and the only representation of a certain community (Tigray) gave TPLF certain power. That power was the leadership core of the 27yrs of EPRDF’s administration. But this is a different time. TPLF is just a political party that happens to be the regional government in Tigray but the military force in the war against the Ethiopian Gov’t is no longer just the TPLF. TPLF is a governing wing of Tigray, which is conditionally replaceable and could lose its political support from the people of Tigray at any point if it could not carefully handle things.

The First reason TPLF wouldn’t be as influential as it used to is the war. Because the Tigray war was/is fought by most if not all Tigrayans and not just Tigray Special Forces it makes it tough for TPLF to claim victory against authoritarianism, oppression, and genocide all on its own. This places all Tigrayans in a state of mind where TPLF did nothing any Tigrayan wouldn’t do. Which closes down the heroic generational gap and liberating mentality TPLF used for its political gains. What TPLF accomplished in the early ’90s against Derg is now being done by the TDF, TPLF, and the Tigrayan diaspora. All of those reasons make it impossible to win against the Tigrayan's united forces, unlike the first Woyane revolution.

Another fact most people fail to see is how replaceable TPLF as a political party is now. Current political parties in Tigray have relatively strong manifestos and social bases. Take the Tigray Independence Party, for instance, they have growing support as the war and genocide goes on. TIP has a strong stand when it comes to independent Tigray, which is being rationally entertained by most Tigrayans now. Another political party is the National Congress of Great Tigray. Its pursuit for a nation under confederation landed a stamp on Tigray elites and the Confederalist Forces of Ethiopia which includes the Oromia Liberation Army and the TPLF itself. Tigrayans regardless of their political stand, wealth, age, and vision for Tigray they united against the common enemy with the same amount of courage and sacrifice.

Given those two reasons, Tigray has a better chance of building a democratic nation than Ethiopia ever could.

In the ’90s as the sole organization from Tigray, TPLF was a liberation force that had to arm and educate its members for political and military goals. Whereas now, Tigray already has relatively strong political parties, effective government, and proven military capacity through the TDF. All that liberates Tigrayans from the burden of considering TPLF as the savior and the community’s only child. It is would take serious and long-lasting propaganda on the Tigray people to spin then back to TPLF’s sole administration. This unity has not formed a single party. Which makes it a war against a common goal and by all the people, not one group.

POWER TO MY PEOPLE

This is an edited version of Kwame Ture's speech on the movie BLACKKKLANSMAN 2018. There are several changes to the text from the original transcript to suit the Tigrayan's fight and unity against ethnic oppression and genocidal war.

I'm here to tell you on this very day, it is time for you to stop running away from being Tigrayan. You are students, scholars, professionals, and experienced from different walks of life. You should process thoughts as such.
It is time for you to understand as the pillar and elites of this emerging nation, you must define Tigrayanism for true nationalism because that's our power. Our Strength

Is Tigrayanism defined by someone with hate against other Ethnicities? Greed for more land than you rightfully deserve? Perusing war for political gains? You sure are none of that.


You only fight back against oppression. You stand for your people like you stood for Ethiopians in the day.

They say, “The north is where Ethiopia’s bleeding is caused with no value. Tigray is dry land. Those people are cancers. Those people are Ethiopia’s enemy. There are no civilians in Tigray. Dry the sea to exterminate the fish.”

Your only enemy is whoever poked you first. You are “of the north”, you are Tigrayan and That’s nationalism!

We want to be like Ethiopians that oppress us in what we called our own country and since they hate our nationalism, we hate our own nationalism. It takes time to reject the most Important Lie: that Tigrayans can’t be as survive unless Ethiopians help them.

If Ethiopia wants to keep us under it, that's Ethiopia’s Problem. If it’s got The Power to keep us under Ethiopia, that's Our Problem. Oppression is not a question of Attitude; it's a question of Power.

The vast majority of “Juntas” (Tigrayans) in Ethiopia live in man-made famine, concentration camps, or hidden behind another ethnicity and must endure their conditions of Oppression because and only because they are Tigrayans and Powerless. Now we are being shot down like dogs in the streets by the government and Fano extremists. We can’t accept this Oppression without retribution.

In closing, we have to ask ourselves "If I am not for myself, who will be? If I am for myself alone, who am I? If not now, when? And if not you, then who?" We need an Undying Love for Tigrayans wherever we may be. Good Luck and POWER TO MY PEOPLE.
