[11/13, 1:03 AM] +1 (206) 458-5396: *Help Medrek Birhane Walk Again – A Journey of Courage, Faith, and Hope*
Medrek Birhane, born and raised in Mekelle-Jibruk(ጅብሩኽ), is a man known for his humility, hard work, and deep faith.
From a young age, he served his church(Debre Selam St.Michael Cathedral) with devotion and later became a skilled camera man(photographer), recording various events with passion and professionalism.
His creativity, discipline, and work ethic soon led him to start his own small business — a tire-repair shop affectionately called “Gomista” — where he worked tirelessly to provide for his family and to help others around him.
*💪🏽 A Sacrifice for His People*
When the devastating war broke out in the Tigray region, Medrek could not stay silent.
With love for his people and homeland, he joined others to defend his community.
During one of the fierce battles, he was hit by a mortar explosion, sustaining severe injuries to his head and body.
As a result, his left hand and left leg became paralyzed, and he has lived with that paralysis ever since.
He was first treated in a military medical camp and later continued treatment with his family’s support in different hospitals in Mekelle and Addis Ababa.
*🏥 His Current Condition*
By the grace of God, Medrek’s recovery has been nothing short of miraculous.
From being completely immobile and confined to his bed, he has now shown remarkable improvement —
“He has finally risen from his bed and begun to regain small movements, showing clear signs of healing.”
However, his injuries remain severe and require advanced neurological and physical rehabilitation abroad.
Doctors have referred him for treatment in India, where specialized care offers the best hope for a full recovery.
The estimated cost for the treatment is 3.5 million Ethiopian Birr (around $55,000 USD).
*💔 A Call for Help*
Before the war, Medrek’s tire business (Gomista) and camerawork supported not only his family but also others in his community.
Today, both his body and his livelihood are in crisis.
His family has spent all they had on his medical care, and he now relies on the kindness of others to continue his recovery.
Medrek’s life reflects courage, sacrifice, and service — a man who gave his strength to support others, now in need of our strength to help him stand again.

Every contribution helps him move one step closer to walking again, returning to work, and rebuilding his life with dignity and hope.
