Leo Tolstoy is known as one of the greatest authors of all time. Writer of the masterpiece War and Peace, as well as the classic Anna Karenina, which still inspires readers around the world. He was a master of realistic fiction, celebrated for his exploration of the meaning of life and human nature.
Tolstoy's deep understanding of the human condition and his timeless themes blend fiction and philosophy. While his writing inspired many, some were equally unnerved by his ability to notice the smallest shifts of consciousness.

In his last testament, Swedish industrialist Alfred Nobel stated that his wealth should be used to create a series of prizes for those who confer the "greatest benefit on mankind." He ordered that it should be divided into five equal parts, with one part going to “the person who shall have produced in the field of literature the most outstanding work in an ideal direction…”

The Nobel Prize in Literature is a Swedish literature prize that is awarded annually to an author who has produced a most outstanding literary work and is based on an author's body of work as a whole. Since the first prize was given in 1901 to French poet and essayist, Sully Prudhomme, the Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded 116 times to 120 Nobel Prize laureates between 1901 and 2024.

The prize this year was awarded to the South Korean author Han Kang for her "intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life.".

How can we make more time for our favourite books? We live in a busy world, and keeping our reading habits alive can be difficult. A great way to catch up on our reading is by using audiobooks. They allow us to immerse ourselves in captivating stories while going about our daily tasks—whether it’s doing dishes, cooking, or working out. Audiobooks transform ordinary moments into extraordinary ones, transporting us to the halls of a fantasy castle, helping us learn a new skill, or enhancing our understanding of a new language—all without requiring any additional time in our day.

How many people does it take to make a difference? How long and how hard do we have to work to create change? The answer is that it takes a community; it takes a lifetime. We want to build a community of people who love great literature—one that works together toward the aim of filling our shelves with amazing books. Our books aren't just about rescuing us from rainy Sundays and quiet evenings, but are also about changing our way of life for the better. As an Ethiopian publishing company, we're trying to change lives through publishing too.

Good stories entertain us; great stories help shape who we are. It is no small secret that stories have a monumental impact on our lives and the way we perceive the world. Stories inspire us and help us make a little bit more sense of the world. Whether they're told by grandparents or written in the pages of a book, stories are as old as time itself and are something we all have in common. In a very real sense, they are an integral part of what it means to be human.
