Battle with police during Eritrean riots, man who sets fire to tour bus gets 1.5 years in prison

THE HAGUE - Eleven men and one woman were sentenced to prison terms of five months to one and a half years on Tuesday for their role in the Eritrean riots in The Hague earlier this year. 26 police officers were injured and cars, police vans and a coach went up in flames. The rioters tried to storm an Eritrean party in the Opera event centre. This degenerated into a pitched battle with the police.

The Chairman of Sudan's Sovereign Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, arrived in Asmara in mid-morning hours today for a working visit.

The Delegation, which includes Mr. Khalid Ali Eleaisir, Minister of Culture and Information; and, Lieutenant General Ahmed Ibrahim Mofadal, Director General of the General Intelligence Service among other senior Officials, were accorded warm welcome by President Isaias Afwerki on arrival at Asmara International Airport.

The two leaders will discuss enhancement of bilateral ties between the two sisterly countries; recent developments in the situation in Sudan, as well as, current regional and geopolitical matters of mutual interest.
