Intellectual tabltop board game “Quest for the Golden Fleece by Argonauts”
Tamar Chachibaia https://www.facebook.com/tamar.chachibaia.3 faced cultural identity challenge in 2011 during her stay in USA as a Fulbright Fellow in Georgia State University, GA. Academic mentor Prof. Dan Benardot is Greek national by origin . He knew noting about country Georgia and never heard about Golden Fleece. This was driving force for Tamar to make Georgia recognizable. But how? That was a challenge. How to make Georgia more recognizable and more acknowledgeable for the World, while population of Georgia is only 4mln vs. whole World 7,7 billion as seen on the globe below.
In 2017 Tamar developed intellectual tabletop board game which title is „Quest for the Golden Fleece by Argonauts” with 56 playing cards, two celestial maps and tokens. Aim of the project is to promote Georgian cultural heritage worldwide. This is logical play for the enhancement of analytical skills. On the one hand this is non gambling game puzzle and on the other hand, collection sample for rare things lovers, which may sparkle interest in consumers.
Intellectual board games represent a powerful alternative of gambling. Recent studies performed in Georgia revealed that schoolchildren are involved in online gambling. Thus intellectual board game has potential to replace gambling, at the same time enrich the adolescent with information, i.e. in this particular case knowledge of astronomy and its development through centuries. This will cover information about constellations, galaxies and etc basic terms of astronomy. Major innovative aspect of this project is that there is first analogue of this kind of board games and first existing version of a kind.
Project of intellectual tabletop board game „Quest for the Golden Fleece by Argonauts” is the first and unique stand alone version which was individually developed by the author with 56 playing cards, two celestial maps and tokens and certain rules to [proceed the play. Another innovative aspect of the project is easy of concept and simplicity of realization. All resources are accessible and effectively used from the available sources, thus could be transformed in such kind of project that will provide the tool to present historical even technological importance of Colchis Kingdom existence for the rest of civilization from the ancients times up to contemporary period.
