I am sorting out the NuNorthern Soul YouTube channel as I am planning some exciting content for 2025 and beyond and its got me reminiscing about some of the releases and how they came to be.

This incredible release from Ilija Rudman started out as an acapella. Ilija had sent me a few tracks and I reached out to Ron Trent to discuss a possible remix and sent him all the tracks and the acapella, he said he liked them all and would do a remix of what we picked, I cheekily said could you do anything with the acapella and voila he created this!

This is such a wonderful project it’s hard to quantify into mere words to give it the justice it deserves. This is a project Chick Corea would have been proud of amazing musicianship and great sounds. This is the type of album you listen to from beginning to end, no filler tracks here. A1.

TECWAA - HOME MOON EP

Sean Johnston, ALFOS, UK - Love this whole EP! Thanks so much

Pete Herbert, Music For Swimming Pools, UK - Thanks for sending, I'm really liking this and a slightly darker vibe on NNS. Quality EP, I'm especially down with High Set Hollow Eye. Will be playing this.

Jaye Ward, London, UK - Thats ace!!! Really like what TECWAA does, techy but with a lot of soul and most importantly deepness! Very into all of the tracks but really love 'high set hollow eyes' and ‘mercury room’ brilliant things indeed.

Mark Broadbent, Ibiza, Spain - Nice solid House on the right side of strange. Opening track Meraki will find home on my Open Lab radio show at some point and can see me using the later tracks at The Standard later in the evening.

Nick Warren, UK - Another cracking release with all 4 tracks being excellent, thanks.

Skylab Radio, UK - A lovely listen, totally getting the 2000s darkness but some gorgeous laidback vibes amongst the edginess. Vibing with all the tracks, each tasty in their own right. We can defo get some airplay sorted for these!

Bruce Tantum, Mixmag, USA - Gorgeous tunes here! Nicely flowing cuts with just the right amount of dubby weirdness to keep things interesting. Lead cut "Meraki" might be the favorite of the bunch - rather majestic in a low-key way.

Joey Fitzgerald / Gold Suite, Bali, Indonesia - Tecwaa is a new artist for me so thanks for introducing me to his work. Really enjoying all four, particularly 'High Set Hollow Eye' and 'Home Moon'. These would certainly find their way into some of my mixes!

Simon Sheldon, Freebooter Lounge, UK - Love this. Every track is a belter. Home Moon a fav but I will play all of them a lot.

Last night I had the honour in playing with my old friend Darren Rock aka Rocky. Our paths have been crossing since the mid 90's when we both played at Cream in Liverpool. Rocky had a great residency with Ashley Beedle and Diesel in their X Press 2 guise doing their 6 deck 3 mixer thing and generally HOUSING things up in their own amazing style. Like myself, Rocky is a no holds barred music digger and as we both have matured like fine wines, or cheese hahahaha, our daily listening habits have certainly developed.

This mix is a 5 hour journey across many genres and eras...

We hope you enjoy it as much as we did putting it down!
