NEW EPISODE ALERT: Tambayan with Shan featuring OFWs in Spain - True Stories of Courage and Friendship 🇪🇸 🇵🇭
In this heartwarming and emotional episode, we sit down with two incredibly brave OFW warriors, Alma and Rubielyn, who share their inspiring journeys. Both started their OFW lives in Hong Kong, moved to Poland, and eventually made their way to Spain to seek better opportunities for their families. However, life took an unexpected turn when both of them were diagnosed with cancer — Rubielyn with cervical cancer and Alma with colon cancer.
What makes their story even more heartbreaking is that their close friend, Cielo, is also battling breast cancer. These three friends, bonded by their OFW experiences, are now facing the same painful challenge.
Because of their health conditions, Alma, Rubielyn, and Cielo have had to stop working, leaving them unable to support their families back home. Their main priority now is to survive each day while undergoing treatment in Madrid. Every day is a battle, not only to get cured but to manage basic necessities as they navigate this difficult time.

In our newest Kuwentuhan episode on Tambayan with Shan, we are excited to feature the inspiring journey of Ms. Noelle Lamoste, one of our hardworking OFW warriors here in Spain.
Originally from Bohol, Philippines, Noelle has been in Spain for 15 years. Her journey, like many others, wasn’t easy. Before settling in Spain, she ventured to countries like Norway and Denmark, looking for better opportunities. She first landed in Barcelona but eventually moved to Madrid. However, finding a stable job without a permit and adjusting to a new culture, language, and environment was a real challenge.
Despite these obstacles, Noelle’s perseverance and dedication paid off when she finally obtained her legal papers. Moving to Madrid was difficult at first, but with the help and support of the Filipino community, she found comfort and opportunities in her new home.
Noelle shared an important lesson with us: embrace change and adapt to your surroundings in order to thrive. Being kind and enjoying your work is key to surviving and staying long-term in a foreign country. She also emphasized that no matter where you are or what kind of job you have, managing your finances wisely is essential. It’s not just about how much you earn, but how you manage your lifestyle while balancing both work and life.
