VP084 — Waltervelt "Discman" EP — OUT NOW

Three months after his acclaimed remix of P A N & Slabo's "All The Things," Waltervelt is back on Voodoo & Prayers — this time with a debut EP of his own, titled 'Discman'.

Discman runs gritty synth stabs over a dark, snappy groove, more punk than the indie dance tag lets on. Elektronic Motors rolls on a hypnotic, arpeggiated undercurrent, string stabs cutting through in short blasts.

Sixteen years building this sound out of Joinville, Brazil. Tracks played by Anyma, Solomun, Pete Tong, Dubfire, Maceo Plex, Nicole Moudaber. Sets from Tomorrowland Brasil to Subsonic Festival in Australia.

RELEASE DAY!
Mattia Musella's debut EP for Voodoo & Prayers, Don't Hide, is out today.

The original sits in an organic house — floaty and uplifting on top, chunkier low-end underneath, with the main synth building slowly across the track rather than leading with its hook. Balearic influence runs through it, tracing back to the time Musella spent on the island.

VløØt's remix pulls it into deep house territory. The ethnic elements from the original get reworked into hypnotic stabs built from the same lead parts, while the spoken vocal — buried in the original — moves up front. Where the original floats, the remix goes deeper and darker.

Musella arrives with two remix credits already on the label (Carlos Bacchüs, Siro), plus a turn on Florian Gasperini's Clair de Lune remix pack. Don't Hide is his first original release for V&P.
Out now via Beatport for DJs and on all streaming platforms.

All The Things is out now on Voodoo & Prayers.

P A N & Slabo have been sitting on this one, and it was worth the wait. Their debut on the imprint and the first of two EPs — Balearic in the proper sense, melodic without being soft, rooted in the kind of early-nineties house energy that still hits harder than most of what gets made today.

Two remixes round it out. Brazilian producer & DJ Waltervelt brings his tough Diynamic-honed instinct to the record. Tats K — Tokyo born, New York trained — takes it somewhere else entirely. Breakbeat Electronica vibes. Three different versions of the same feeling.
