Jimmy Buffett passed away September 1st from a rare blood cancer and left us to go spend eternity in his beloved Margaritaville. At the age of only 19 years old Phil Spector, one of the most iconic music producers in American music history produced and sang on a huge hit, "To Know Him Is To Love Him" by the Teddy Bears. In 2009 he was convicted of murdering an actress in his home and spent the rest of his life in prison, dying in 2021 of Covid. Tomorrow (Monday) on "Somewhere In Time with Jeff Hyman":

On February 3, 1959, American rock and roll musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and "The Big Bopper" J. P. Richardson were killed in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa, together with pilot Roger Peterson. The event later became known as "The Day the Music Died" after singer-songwriter Don McLean referred to it as such in his 1971 song "American Pie". The small plane was on a flight from Clear Lake to Moorhead Minnesota when it crashed in a snow storm. How these artists happened to be on that plane is an example of the ultimate irony.
