Job Description
• Establish relationships with new customers

Egypt to launch the largest logistics project in Middle East
Transport Minister Kamel al-Wazir witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Transport Ministry and major European and German companies in the field of handling container terminals, dry ports and logistics to launch the largest logistics project in the Middle East and Africa.

The project includes a container terminal, a railway line, a dry port and a cargo distribution area, with a total investment of 750 million euros, as a first phase.

The minister added that the project also includes the establishment of an integrated logistic corridor that includes a container terminal. The terminal will be linked to a dry port in al-Dhuhair area through a railway line.

The corridor will serve ports of the Eastern branch of the Suez Canal and ports overlooking the Mediterranean, which will reduce pressure on road transport, he said.

The MoU aims at cooperation on a business model for the project to achieve economic development at the Damietta Port and the surrounding area, which in turn will make other Egyptian ports more competitive, the minister said in a statement on Wednesday.

The project will contribute to making the port a pivot point in the Eastern Mediterranean region and to the opening of new export markets through the operation of direct shipping services to the port and increased competitiveness with countries producing similar industrial products, said Wazir.

He pointed out that the project will also contribute to attracting foreign direct investment, reflecting positively on the investment climate in Egypt.

The feasibility study and the proposed business model will be complete within four months. The terminal will be complete by the end of 2022, he stated.

حوار للسيد المهندس/ إبراهيم العربى رئيس الإتحاد العام للغرف التجارية، ورئيس غرفة القاهرة، سرح بأنه سيتم تعميم ما تم من مشروعات إستهدفتها الغرفة التجارية للقاهرة على مدار الأعوام الماضية، على مستوى جميع الغرف التجارية على مستوى المحافظات دون إستثناء.


وأشار إلى أن غرفة القاهرة تنفذ عدة مشروعات تنموية وعلى رأسها، مشروع التدريب من أجل التشغيل لتوفير مزيد من فرص العمل للشباب ووثيقة التأمين على حياة وممتلكات التجار ضد الحريق والسرقة ونادى تجار المحروسة.

الحقيقة الكاملة فى تحفظ وفد البنك الدولى على دعم مشروعات فى وزارة النقل

فى لقاء جمع وزير النقل الفريق مهندس كامل الوزير، ، ووفد البنك الدولى وذلك لمتابعة موقف المشروعات المشتركة الحالية وسبل دعم وتطوير منظومة النقل الحضري والموانئ البحرية وحضر اللقاء رئيس وقيادات هيئة السكك الحديدية وقيادات وزارة النقل
حيث استعرض وفد البنك الدولي نتائج التعاون المشترك مع المسؤلين في جهاز تنظيم النقل البري بوزارة النقل في وضع المقترحات الخاصة باللائحة التنفيذية للجهاز والهيكل التنظيمي على أعتبار أنه مطلب للبنك الدولى وعلية أكد وزير النقل على أهمية تفعيل هذا الجهاز الذي سيقوم برسم السياسات لتطوير منظومة النقل البري الداخلي والدولي ودراسة متطلبات واحتياجات هذا النقل بما يكفل تحقيق العائد المطلوب وتحسين الخدمة المقدمة ووضع قواعد تنظيم أعمال النقل البري الداخلي والدولي بالتنسيق مع الجهات العاملة في هذا المجال وكذلك الاشتراك في وضع الخطط والسياسات اللازمة لتطوير منظومة النقل متعدد الوسائط مع الجهات المعنية ووضع الخطط المتعلقة بتهيئة المناخ الجاذب للاستثمارات اللازمة لتمويل مشروعات النقل البري الداخلي والدولي.
كما استعراض كيفية التعاون في مجال النقل البحري حيث قام وفد من البنك الدولي بزيارة عدد من الموانئ البحرية منها ميناء الإسكندرية وميناء دمياط واشاد الوفد بالتطور الكبير الذي شهدته الموانئ البحرية المصرية في السنوات الماضية حيث اوضح الفريق مهندس كامل الوزير لوفد البنك الدولى ان الوزارة تنفذ خطة لتعظيم الاستفادة من النقل البحري فى دعم الاقتصاد القومى من خلال تطوير كل الموانئ البحرية وفقًا للمخطط الشامل للموانئ المصرية البحرية الذى يتم إعداده حاليًا والذى يرتكز على الاستفادة من الموقع الجغرافى للموانئ المصرية، وتعظيم الميزة التنافسية للموانئ المصرية لخدمة التجارة الدولية، وزيادة حصتها من تجارة الترانزيت والاستفادة القصوى من التسهيلات المتاحة بالموانئ.
لافتا إلى أنه يتم حاليا من التنسيق بين مجلس الوزراء ووزارتي النقل والمالية لإتخاذ كافة الإجراءات والآليات التي تساهم في تقليل الوقت الخاص بالتخليص الجمركي
وعلية أكد وفد البنك الدولى على التزام البنك بدعم جهود مصر فى تعزيز قطاع النقل "وخاصةً السكك الحديدية" المصرية للنهوض بهذا القطاع .
حيث يشمل إحدي صور هذا الدعم التعاون القائم بين الجانبين في مجال كهربة اشارات خطوط القاهرة الاسكندرية ،وبني سويف اسيوط،واسيوط نجع حمادي حيث وطلب وفد البنك الدولى قبل عمليات الدعم زيارة مواقع العمل فى تلك المشروعات
ولذا أكد وزير النقل لوفد البنك الدولى على أهمية هذه المشروعات التي تساهم في زيادة معدلات السلامة والامان بخطوط السكك الحديدية مشيرا الى انه سيكون مرافقا مع وفد من البنك الدولي بزيارة مواقع العمل في هذه المشروعات
ثم تم التباحث حول إمكانية التعاون بين الجانبين في مشروع خط البضائع من الأسكندرية إلي ميناء 6 أكتوبر الجاف بحيث يكون هذا الخط نموذج رائد في خط شحن بضائع ناجح لكن وفد البنك الدولى طالب بتأجيل النظر فى هذا الموضوع لحين قيام السكة الحديد بعمل دراسة جدوى للمشروع بعد انتهاء الدراسات والترسية على الاستثماري الخاص بمشروع وصلة المناشي 6 اكتوبر نظرا لتكامل المشروعين

Maersk Drilling ‘delivering’ on 2019 plan despite challenging times, says CEO

Maersk Drilling’s chief executive said yesterday the firm is “delivering” on its 2019 strategy despite a slump in first half profits.
The rig operator posted a pre-tax loss of £4million for the first half of the year, compared to a £95million profit in the same period in 2018.
Revenues were £510m, down from £607m, while earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) were £189m, also down from H1 2018 at £253m.

CEO Jorn Madsen said it comes amid “challenging markets” for the industry, as was expected before the start of 2019, but the firm is “on track” to deliver EBITDA of £327m for the calendar year.

He added: “Ebitda of $231m is in line with the guidance we gave before the beginning of the year.It’s still positive cash flow.

“On a relative basis with the rest of the industry, I’m quite satisfied with that. That said, I am aware we do need to make more money.

“We knew that 2019 was going to be challenging.

“We knew there would be legacy contracts running off and new contracts coming in on a lower level and that has now come to fruition.

“In an otherwise challenged market, I think that relative to peers we have done quite well.”

Maersk Drilling employs 35 people at its shorebase in Aberdeen and around 270 offshore workers in the UK, depending on the number of rigs working in the sector.

The firm pointed to the fact that its backlog has increased in the second quarter by nearly a billion pounds to £1.8bn, while there are “positive” signals in the UK and Norwegian markets as well as the Danish sector.

In the first half of the year, new contracts were awarded in the UK for the Maersk Resilient with Independent Oil and Gas and Maersk Resolute with Perenco, while Maersk Innovator got an extension with Cnooc at the Buzzard field.

Rig utilisation was high, while the entry of new private-equity players to the North Sea suits the firm’s business models.

Mr Madsen added: “The interesting part which is new to the UK market compared to Norway is we’re seeing a lot of new players making an entrance. Private equity-backed operations are coming in and our proposition fits that segment really well.

“A lot of decommissioning will also be coming up in the UK. We have a decommissioning company, Maersk Drilling, and the maturity of the UK shelf makes it interesting to work in that space.”
