Egypt urges global action to protect Palestinians, end settlement expansion
Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League Mohamed Samir said the international community’s responsibility toward the Palestinian people must go beyond expressions of solidarity to concrete action.

He stressed the need to provide protection for Palestinian civilians across the occupied territories, halt all settlement activity and de facto annexation efforts, ensure respect for international humanitarian law, launch a credible political process leading to a just and comprehensive final settlement, and support reconstruction efforts in Gaza to restore dignified living conditions.

Addressing the Arab League on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on Sunday, Samir said the occasion carries deep political and moral significance. He noted that the Palestinian cause remains an open wound in the conscience of humanity and a testament to the international community’s failure to uphold the inalienable rights of a people still denied self-determination and the establishment of an independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He cautioned that while the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza has drawn global attention due to its scale of destruction and unbearable suffering, the broader Palestinian tragedy extends far beyond the enclave.

In the West Bank and East Jerusalem, he noted, practices amounting to a gradual and systematic silent annexation continue through the expansion of settlement boundaries, the steady growth of settlement activity, the legalization of illegal outposts, and the issuance of new building permits within them. These actions, he said, fragment Palestinian territory and undermine the foundations of a viable independent state, taking place with little global media attention and becoming entrenched as a fait accompli.

Samir stressed that reinforcing solidarity with the Palestinian people has become even more crucial, underscoring that Palestinians need clear confirmation that their cause remains alive in the world’s conscience and that the international community recognizes the justice of their struggle.

Egypt stresses importance of consolidating
Egypt has joined the international community in commemorating the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, reaffirming that this occasion is not merely an annual remembrance but a moment to revive the values of justice and renew the international moral and political commitment to the Palestinian people and their inherent rights.

In a statement issued Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates emphasized the Palestinian right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital is not just a political demand but a historic entitlement supported by international legitimacy and safeguarded by the conscience of humanity.

On the occasion of this noble anniversary, Egypt underscored the necessity of ensuring a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip as well as the free and unconditional flow of humanitarian aid.

This is in implementation of Security Council Resolution 2803 and in line with the international consensus declared at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, paving the way for launching a comprehensive political process that restores the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, the ministry said.

In this context, Egypt continues its close coordination with the United States and regional partners to ensure the full implementation of US President Donald Trump's peace plan and advance the mechanisms associated with it in a manner that preserves Palestinian rights and serves regional stability, it added.

“Egypt proceeds with its efforts with its regional and international partners to support all measures that alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, create the necessary conditions for restoring calm and stability, and open a political horizon to address the root causes of the conflict.”

The ministry emphasized the central role of the Palestinian Authority and the unity of Palestinian lands as an indispensable basis for any viable settlement.

Parliamentary affairs min. urges support for , two-state solution
Minister of Parliamentary, Legal and Political Communication Affairs Mahmoud Fawzy asserted the importance of standing with the Palestinian people and supporting Egypt’s efforts for Gaza reconstruction.

He highlighted that the rights of peoples to their land do not expire with time and that peace and security are only achievable through just solutions that grant everyone their rights.

Fawzy stressed that a two-state solution would permanently resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and ensure peaceful coexistence for both peoples.

His remarks came on the occasion of the observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People held annually on November 29.

He underlined the importance of commemorating this day in light of the ongoing suffering faced by Palestinians, particularly in the war-devastated Gaza Strip.

A Parliamentary Epic in Cairo
• Global praise for President El-Sisi and Egypt’s steadfast position on supporting Palestine and regional stability
• Hanafy Gebaly: Euro-Mediterranean partnership is a strategic necessity… and Egypt holds a comprehensive vision for peace and development
• Abou El-Enein: The Cairo Summit’s recommendations are a new roadmap to resolving regional crises and strengthening balanced Mediterranean partnerships
• European and Arab delegations: El-Sisi is the voice of wisdom and the guarantor of regional stability… and Egypt has become the political center of gravity in the Middle East
• Cairo Declaration: Reviving the Barcelona Process, enhancing cooperation and peace, supporting Palestinian rights, and safeguarding regional security

Cairo hosted one of the most significant parliamentary events in the region, as the Egyptian House of Representatives welcomed the Forum of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean and the Summit of Speakers of Parliament. The gathering transformed into a diplomatic and parliamentary epic that reaffirmed Egypt’s leadership, its pivotal role in advancing regional peace and security, and the global appreciation for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s unwavering stance on the Palestinian cause.

European and Arab parliamentarians agreed that Cairo succeeded in shaping a clear vision for regional cooperation, noting that Egypt’s recent diplomatic efforts have laid the groundwork for genuine peaceful solutions amid persistent conflicts and tensions.

In his opening remarks, Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafy Gebaly stressed that the Barcelona Process—celebrating its 30th anniversary—remains a historic milestone in building Euro-Mediterranean partnership. He emphasized that the Cairo meeting provides an opportunity to review the path of cooperation, assess achievements, and confront shared challenges with boldness.

Gebaly underlined that the region is experiencing unprecedented turmoil threatening collective security, and that Egypt under President El-Sisi has presented a unique model of active diplomacy to stop conflicts and support political tracks—most notably by hosting the Sharm El-Sheikh International Peace Summit, which set a roadmap for a just and lasting settlement.

He stressed that stability cannot be achieved without genuine economic growth, adding that Egypt has an ambitious vision to strengthen trade and energy connectivity across the Mediterranean, support the green transition, and encourage investment and technology transfer. He noted that Euro-Mediterranean partnership is not optional—it is a strategic necessity dictated by geography and interlinked interests.

In his address, MP Mohamed Abou El-Enein, Deputy Speaker of the House and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, affirmed that marking thirty years since Barcelona underscores the importance of building fair and balanced partnerships. He noted that the Pact for the Mediterranean represents a historic opportunity to reshape regional cooperation based on shared interests rather than unilateral perspectives.

Abou El-Enein stressed that the Palestinian cause is the foundation of regional stability and that no new pact can be complete without a comprehensive and just solution, a full cessation of the aggression on Gaza, and an absolute rejection of any plans for displacement or annexation. He also called for inclusive political solutions in Libya and Sudan, reaffirmed that Egypt’s water security is a red line, and announced a proposed Egyptian mechanism for a permanent parliamentary body to monitor the implementation of the new Mediterranean pact.

The forum witnessed wide praise from European and Arab delegations for President El-Sisi, describing him as a “voice of wisdom” and a statesman capable of steering crises with clarity and resolve. Delegations affirmed that Egypt’s role has become central to preserving regional stability, and that the President’s efforts to halt the assault on Gaza and secure a ceasefire have significantly elevated Egypt’s international standing.

Parliamentarians also commended Egypt’s diplomatic efforts in Libya, Sudan, and Syria, noting that Cairo has become the region’s political center of gravity and the origin of the most impactful peace initiatives.

The Cairo Declaration issued at the conclusion of the meetings encapsulated this broad consensus. It called for reviving the Barcelona Process with a more realistic spirit, supporting a ceasefire in Gaza, reconstruction efforts, opening crossings, and Israeli withdrawal within defined mechanisms. The declaration rejected settlement expansion, annexation, and displacement, and called for direct negotiations under international and regional sponsorship. It also reaffirmed support for Egypt’s water security in accordance with international law.

The declaration also addressed regional challenges in Libya, Sudan, and Syria, stressing comprehensive political solutions, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as enhanced cooperation on climate, energy, migration, education, the blue economy, and digital transformation. It further proposed establishing a Mediterranean University and a Center for Scientific Diplomacy.

The forum concluded by affirming that reviving the Barcelona Process after thirty years is an urgent imperative to launch a new phase of regional integration and build a Mediterranean space that is more stable, prosperous, and interconnected—one in which Egypt remains an indispensable leader and partner in shaping the region’s future.
