A follow-up to my 2021 short SUMMER, I once again spent the duration of a summer filming, editing, and releasing a single shot every day. Things have changed or have they?

Once again I'm continuing with non-traditional filmmaking, this one is more grounded in reality as I had less desire to create shots with a fictional story behind them. This and my previous short work well from a personal perspective as a snapshot of my life at the time of creation. I'll be curious to see how others feel about it.

So life is strange. I didn't intend to take another 2 years away from releasing films but alas, I did. Not from a lack of trying. I've had at least 3 other projects in the works but they've yet to see the light of day for a myriad of reasons. Life balance is the main one. I've been kind of loss in the wilderness for the last few years, trying to figure out who I am and what I want. Trying to establish a life of my own. It's been a challenge but as we approach the end of 2023 I feel more confident in knowing where I'm going. We shall see though.

Over the space of a summer, I filmed, edited, and released a single shot every day. The outcome? A documentary that blurs the line between fiction and non-fiction.

This is my 6th short film and technically the first one I've made in over 2 years. There were a couple of scripts that came into existence during this time but I never took them further than the written page for a myriad of reasons. Though earlier this year I had intended to move towards production on one of them. This did not happen as my life kind of went into a spiral for a bit which is kind of captured in this film. It got to a point where I became very frustrated. I just wanted to create and for such a long time I couldn't. After watching Bo Burnham's special INSIDE I felt a spark of inspiration. Though that's a different project currently. No, SUMMER came from a desire to do something different. Something unscripted. Something that I knew could not be halted by a lack of resources. So I set myself a challenge: film, edit, & release a single shot every single day from the 3rd of June to the 31st of August. There were no other rules. No script. No excuses. And to be entirely honest 'challenge' is an appropriate word. There were days when I did not want to do this, and a few when I had to use leftover footage, but I saw it through to completion and this is the result of that. With added music for your viewing pleasure.

This is a hard sell because unlike my other films there is no traditional narrative. There are no characters. But stories can be found everywhere and I hope that you are able to do so here. This was my weird SUMMER.

I will explain my long abscene soon enough once I finalise some details, however I'm here today to let you guys know about my current project.

For the last two weeks I've been filming, editing, and posting a single shot every day. This will run until the end of August. I started it as an excuse to make more use of both my camera and Adobe Premiere. It's nothing overly flashy but If you're at all interested you can find the rest of the shots on the Instagram page below.
