My heart has felt so heavy for those devastated by Helene and those now bracing for Milton ❤️‍🩹

Less than two weeks ago my heart was bursting with joy as I was looking forward to the travel collaborations we had lined up for the month October, all within our beautiful state. Destinations? Tampa, Cedar Key, Manasota Key and Marathon, now three of those have been canceled due to the damage caused by Hurricane Helene 💔 So many communities that I cherish deeply in Florida and surrounding states are now in shambles, my heart goes out to those whose lives have been uprooted in just days. My prayers are with those who were affected by it, may you have the expedited assistance, the help, resources and the peace needed in this time of restoration 💜

My prayer warriors, let’s continue to pray for God’s blessing on all who are in the path of tropical storm Milton, and all who stand ready to help. Feel free to share a word of encouragement, drop a prayer for those who need it most 🙏🏼 Know of any charities providing relief and recovery to those impacted? September is Pain Awareness Month ✨

Social media is such a tricky thing, as someone with a chronic illness, I am more than aware that how someone looks does not always equal how they feel. When we see family, friends & creators looking fabulous and seemingly thriving we can often end up forgetting this and wondering what we might be doing ‘wrong’ because the reality of our lives is nothing like the beautiful and perfect posts we see.

We have to remember social media is curated most of the time, it’s a highlight real, it isn’t real life and we shouldn’t hold ourselves to the perceived standards that we are bombarded with everyday. We need to learn to be kinder to ourselves and share those moments of reality every once in a while.

I share this because this has been my journey for years, the everyday the reality for so many of you and thought it was important to raise awareness of that.

The Kapok Tree ~ Key West

One of the most famous Kapok trees in the United States can be found in Key West, FL. This Kapok tree stands at 502 Whitehead St. and it has become a beloved landmark in the community. The tree is estimated to be over 100 years old and it has a trunk circumference of over 30 feet. The Kapok tree in Key West is also known for its beautiful pink and white flowers which bloom during the spring and summer months!
